Amavi Gets French Call Up

Amavi Gets French Call Up

Having moved to Marseille this summer on a loan spell that many expect to become a permanent deal next summer, Jordan Amavi's stock rose this week as he received a first senior French call up.

The left back didn't have the best of times at Villa, especially with his injury hitting him hard, but he did make a total of 39 starting appearances with a further nine from the bench for us, and 36 of those came last season.

With Sevilla's antics over the summer, his switch to Marseille was secured and the 23 year old had made six appearances for the French outfit so far.

He's done enough in those six games to find himself in their senior squad for the October international break, and he goes in as Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa's replacement after he with drew with an injury.

France top Group A by a point and they are away to Bulgaria on October 7, before they host Belarus on October 10.

Even if he doesn't gain his first cap, his call up is good news for him, but also for us as if we don't have a buy clause in place it should only eek a potential fee up, and even if we've already agreed a fee with them, the call up alone gives them an extra reason to complete the transfer.

Good luck Amavi.

Yeah good luck to Jordan. When he arrived at B6, it was a case of right club, wrong time. He came when the club was in freefall, with a team playing with no confidence, then he gets injured. what a nightmare! Make no mistake, he's a quality player. He won't be out of place playing in a team of quality players.

He has not really earned a call up since he arrived at Marseille ( Evra is still n°1) but that is typical of French national team selections under Deschamps which are very 'political' to say the least. Having said that I agree with you Pride of Lions, Amavi is a quality player with a promising future - as long as he avoids spending too much time in night clubs !. Still do not really understand the transfer, I thought it was a loan with both parties obliged to make it permanent. In legal terms surely that means that the transfer is already acted ?

He's been called-up mainly because of several injuries. Good for him, though.

L'Equipe are saying a fee of £8.9million agreed within loan, so a small uplift on reported fee paid and some saying they have already enacted that option.
