Johnstone In Team Of The Week (12/9/17)

Johnstone In Team Of The Week (12/9/17)

Aston Villa are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the scoreless draw with Brentford at the weekend at Villa Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Johnstone was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Aston Villa were held to a point at home by Brentford on Saturday, but it could have been worse had it not been for the heroics of Johnstone. The Villans` stopper was in fine form, with Josh Clarke and Ollie Watkins among the Bees to be thwarted in the goalless draw.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Johnstone for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win and that didn't happen, again.

Full Team:

Sam Johnstone (Aston Villa), Daniel Jones (Notts County), Krystian Pearce (Mansfield Town), Tony McMahon (Bradford City), Sean McConville (Accrington Stanley), Bradley Johnson (Derby County), Kieran Lee (Sheffield Wednesday), Adama Traore (Middlesbrough), Pierre-Michel Lasogga (Leeds United), Chris Porter (Crewe Alexandra), Kieffer Moore (Rotherham United).

Manager - Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (Northampton Town).
