Fans In High Praise of Keinan Davis Debut

Fans in high spirits and high praise for the full debut of Keinan Davis:

Aspinall: Davis looked a beast - absolute quality.

Honestly didn't think he was that good, he bullied them from what I've seen and heard.

He could be exactly what makes us tick I hope.

JW85 The only time I've seen him before was the Brighton game last season where he looked terrified the 1st 20 minutes or so then came into it and looked a player. His performance yesterday was on another level entirely though, extremely impressive. Not bad for someone we got on a free from Biggleswade town.

ironside: A great debut. What a difference when you've got a centre forward who wins the ball, shields it, lays it off, can turn with the ball under control and generally terrorises a pair of centre backs.

bodydouble: No more favouritism. No more players dining out on past glories. Davis played better than any of strikers have this season so should be in the first XI until someone outperforms him.

And why it's blatantly obvious to anyone who saw today's game that Davis offers far more than Gabby does, why do I get the horrible feeling that Gabby will be straight back in the first team as soon as he's available. Fingers crossed Bruce has learnt his lesson.

Villatomb38: Absolute must start next Friday surely, brilliant performance. Only wish that one effort went in and not off the bar, would've really capped it off.

Bodybutter: There was a chance before the first goal where Davis gets the ball just ahead of the centre circle. I said 'gets' but I should say takes. He uses his body and takes two touches to leave the defender in the dust. He then runs straight for the goal before laying it off to Hourihane who misses.

The only player I've seen play like that is Benteke. Outstanding.

pvb1968 I think davis put in one of the best centre forward performances I have seen for a long time. The supporters will back the manager if he is brave enough to play the younger , hungrier players.

Looked a solid unit as well. Great if he is now allowed to blossom.

A breath of fresh air, surely Bruce can see what we've all said that Gabby isn't delivering as much as he should, Davis should get an extended run and will be interesting having Kodjia playing along side him.... a potential great double forward partnership with Green supporting from out wide .... me thinks goals !!!!

Striker problem? What striker problem, you now have a proper one.

Outstanding game and, agreed, looks like a real centre forward. A superb prospect as long as he keeps his feet on the ground and understands that he still has a lot to learn. He will not play against a weak central defense like Norwich had on Saturday every week. Whilst I have been as critical of Gabby's attitude over the last few years as anybody, I do think that comparing him to Davis is totally unfair. Gabby is not, never was and never will be, a centre forward. OK, managers have asked him to 'lead the line' but that is their mistake not Gabby's.

SB if you drop Davis to bring on Flabby you will be committing suicide. This kid is hungry and wants to show what he can do. Yes he won't play every game this season as he is still learning his trade and plays for the team. Give him an extended run and let's see what happens, after all it's a young mans game these days.

I thought he was the catalyst for the whole performance. His battling seemed to inspire the rest. His hold up play also allowed the others to move forward. Fabulous first full game. Before the match I said to my daughter that we had no threat and Norwich would be delighted to see that team. Shows what I know! I saw Davis at Brighton game last season and at Shrewsbury in pre-season and didn't see much in him. Maybe I was wrong!

When I was watching one of the early pre-season games, as everyone was praising the two young boys in midfield (correctly) I kept noticing how Davis was doing a very nice job with his back-to-goal, and hoping that this was a sign of things to come. He looked like a proper man with his physique. Took the things I saw with a pinch of salt due to the fact that it was pre-season but he has proved now that he can do it at the "proper" level. If we can get 20-30 games from him this year at that level then we've got a real gem on our hands. A Proper Centre Forward.

Kodja is no doubt our best striker when he plays but has one drawback which is he's greedy and is not one to pass to another in a better position. Davis doesn't have this fault it will be interesting if they play together to see what happens..
