Johnstone Finally Signs For Villa

Aston Villa have finally announced the season long loan signing of Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone this afternoon.

Within the last hour the club confirmed that he had now teamed up with us at Bodymoor Heath and the deal was for the full season.

Having spent six months with us last year on a loan spell from January onwards, it's long been known he was manager Steve Bruce's top target for between the sticks but it's been an incredibly long wait.

Speaking to the Official Site Johnstone explained.

'I am delighted to be back. I really enjoyed my last spell here - it`s a great club with top players and passionate fans. I can`t wait to get started now. I believe it can be a special season for all of us and I will be working hard each and every day to produce the kind of performances that will help us achieve what we`re aiming for.'

Johnstone has been handed the No 1 shirt for the coming campaign, having wore the No 34 last season.

Dr Xhia has been handed a rotten deal. The philosophy of investing in old players is totally misguided. Getting promotion is fine but maintaining a presence in the Premier is what matters and this can't be done with old players past their best but young players with their best to come. If our young players are not good enough , which I don't believe, why are they not playing. An old man getting old men round him to feel more comfortable. I know I'm 83.
