Villa Open Pre Season With A Double Win

Villa Open Pre Season With A Double Win

Aston Villa kicked off their pre season portion of friendlies with a double victory over Kidderminster Harriers and Telford last night.

A split squad headed to Aggborough and New Bucks Head respectively, taking a three nil win at Harriers, with a four nil win at Telford.

It was certainly an experience trying to watch both games simultaneously and whilst players stood out from both games, overall the Telford match stood out for me, with Andre Green in particular proving a handful - but equally Scott Hogan showed how valuable a turn of pace was and more hopefully of what we can expect from him in the future.

As for the details, beginning with Kidderminster.

First half goals from Conor Hourihane (10) and James Chester (30) set the tone there, before Harry McKirdy (83) added a third to wrap up the scoring.

Villa:

Bunn, Hutton (Abdoul 76) Richards (Prosser 67) Chester (Bedeau 64) Borg (Toner 46) Tshibola (McKirdy 64), Hourihane, Bjarnason, Gardner (Blackett-Taylor 76) McCormack, Hogan.

Subs:

Watkins, Taylor.

Chester wore the armband.

For Telford, Villa took the first half lead through an Andre Green (38) effort, and following the break two penalties from Henri Lansbury (49, 84) were sandwiched by a Gabby Agbonlahor (53) effort to secure the four nil victory.

Villa:

Sarkic, Bree, Samba, Baker (Clarke 27), Amavi, Adomah (O'Hare 26), Lansbury (Pastorek 85), Veretout (Cox 85), Green, Agbonlahor (Hayes 61), Davis (Mooney 71).

Agbonlahor wore the armband.

Telford did see Albert Adomah and Nathan Baker taken of with injuries midway through the first period, and Micah Richards also seemed to be struggling with him being replaced in the second half.
