Gil Returns To Deportivo

Gil Returns To Deportivo

Aston Villa have announced this evening that midfielder Carles Gil has returned to Deportivo La Coruna on a season long loan spell.

He will rejoin former West Bromwich Albion head coach Pepe Mel for a second season having been with them in the 2016/17 campaign.

Having joined Villa back in January 2015 from Valencia, he has made a total of 34 appearances, scoring three times for us and on statistics I can find, last term he made a total of 17 starts for Deportivo, with a further seven showings from the bench, returning one goal.

Given Gil had made it clear he wanted a move, shame this wasn't a permanent deal as that would've suited us best but you'd think he's played his last game for us.

Agree totally. FFP is going to cripple us if we're not careful. Unlucky with Amavi and he showed good application and character at Telford to his credit. BUT, by my reckoning, we now have 13+ midfield players just for a start!! Not enough work has been done to clear out the dead wood, in my opinion. Accept it's difficult, but pay the buggers off if they won't move. Why are Richards, Bacuna, Gardner - go on, add your own - still within a county mile of Kingstanding never mind VP? Bit worried.
