Manchester United Goalie Set For A Return

Manchester United Goalie Set For A Return

It was being reported on Sunday that Jose Mourinho had given Aston Villa the green light to take Sam Johnstone back on loan for the 2017/18 campaign.

With his half season loan now at an end following his arrival in the January window, manager Steve Bruce had already confirmed that he would be speaking to Mourinho about the stopper and it appears that meeting took place this week.

The Birmingham Mail say it will be a season long loan spell but there's no speculation as to whether we will have an option to buy at the end of the year.

With the transfer budget speculation and our need to sell some players full stop, at least it doesn't seem to have gotten in the way of this deal given how Johnstone improved as the weeks ticked by.

Hopefully we have that permanent clause.

not a big fan of loans unless there is an option to buy, however if the reports are true that Bruce has to sell to buy - and I am not surprised after the money spent over the years that the new guys have decided they can't keep just throwing money (we need the big buys to start performing) then I suppose this is good news.

Bit contradictory maybe, but if he can continue to improve and we can start firing at the front, he can help the promotion push. Once back up, he might then decide his future lays with us.

Good move really. He's a decent young keeper who can hopefully only get better. As JF says, if there is an option to buy, even better. There are more important positional strengthening to be done once the loan players etc have been cleared out, thus providing transfer money for Bruce to buy in.
