Unoial Villa News...

What an awful day. Terrible news that former Villa defender Ugo Ehiogu has died at the age of 44. He suffered a cardiac arrest at Tottenham's training ground on Thursday. Thoughts with his family at this sad sad time. Villa and Blues will wear black armbands on Sunday and there will be a minutes applause. I thought instead of going into a long article, it would be fitting to pay tribute to him with some of the great images of his time with us. RIP Big Man. Aston Villa have confirmed that Jonathan Kodjia will serve a one match ban following his ridiculous red card in the Fulham match. Could have been worse, straight red and 'violent conduct` could have been 3 matches. So the appeal worked in reducing it at least. The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game between Aston Villa and Birmingham City this Sunday. Aston Villa host Birmingham City on Sunday April 23 for the game at Villa Park and the match carries a 12pm kick off. Referee: Officials - Aston Villa v Birmingham (23/4/17)

Aston Villa have only 9 points left to play for in this year's battle in the Championship. With the games dwindling down now at the real business end of the campaign as Aston Villa find themselves heading towards the end of May, sitting in 12th place in the table on 58 points, the Play Offs are now an idle dream but so are earlier thoughts of a double relegation. Sad news about Ugo! So young, so sad for his family.

So, with the play-offs now gone, what do we think of this new team? Can they get promoted next season, or do we need to strengthen on some areas? My thinking is that we may need some more quality at rb, and we obviously need more sources of goals. Thoughts?

I'd loved to have been more buoyed with improvements and better results. It all - including the wins - at the moment seems and feels like a grind though doesn't it? Bruce did say in the meeting a few of us had with him he felt it would be 3 transfer windows to shape things though, he still has some players I would imagine he'll want to offload and some new ones to come in. What does worry me is the Hourihane and Lansbury types, who looked like perfect signings to me, havent' had much if any impact yet.

What about you mate?
