Villa's Dealings Done?

Villa's Dealings Done?

Well it's gone deathly quiet the last few hours in terms of Villa making any more signings before the window slams shut in just over an hour.

Earlier links to Manchester United's Tom Cleverley died a wage induced death given what he was apparently asking for, and it's said we pulled the plug on that a while back - which was what led to us putting in a late bid for Sergio Canales.

With him only joining Real Sociedad though last January, it was said he rejected the move as he was happy at the club and not looking to uproot himself again.

And well, since both of those links went quiet, so have the rumours, the anticipation and even the serial deadline day stirrers who are usually adamant we are in 'late talks' with a player despite it being common knowledge that they have moved elsewhere already, seem to have found something else to do with their time.

Without even a continued hint of a deal now or a link, it looks like our window has now closed.

Sky have updated little or note, if anything for over an hour and unless I dozed off they haven't been back to Bodymoor Heath for quite a while now, so there are no rumblings there.

I think it's time to relax folks.

One and half hours to go, if we haven't heard a rumour yet, we can't really be working on anything can we?

So we go with what we have and look to build on our best start to a league campaign in EIGHT years apparently which is scary on more levels than our performance against Hull.

With people to return from injury and others still to settle 100% and find their fitness, if and I know it's as big an if as the reported wage of Radamel Falcao, we can repeat Hull on a more regular basis - that would do us this year wouldn't it.

Watch me pop off for a coffee now and we sign ten players!

Not getting excited now. Would of been nice to get someone in though.

I'm a bit of a let down. I was hoping for Canales since he is very much top tier stuff.

After reportedly only having a shoe-string budget o work with, it appears Paul Lambert has £8m spare in his transfer budget which he hasn't spent. Unfortunate with the Cleverley deal but bizarre not get someone in at all today, even on a loan deal?
01/09/2014 21:54:00
I fairly happy with our transfer dealings, especially considering our budget. We really need to get Gabby, Delph and Vlaar tied down to longer contracts now, bemused as to why that has not yet happened? Glad we were looking to spend a little and on a higher calibre of player than we have been linked with for what seems like a very long time!
01/09/2014 21:58:00
Not to bothered. We have brought in some good players early who are doing well. We have two of our main strikers coming back aswell. Main thing is a move that didn't happen, Vlaar stays.

So one of the weakest squads. Lowest value... Still one of the youngest. And we spend what 8 million?! Thanks Randy. Way to make us look remotely lucrative. Thanks god we have Lambert because few managers could work under these ridiculous conditions. Another year wasted.

Just heard Cleverley is not going to Everton either, he can now can enjoy sitting on the bench all season. Oh well, he'll have a few extra thousands in the bank I guess.
01/09/2014 22:10:00
If I was told at the start of the day we would have kept Vlaar, Delph and Benteke. I would have been delighted. Sure the bid for Canales was exciting and it's a shame it didn't happen but I am happy enough. Hope we line up a new contract for Delph, Grealish and try to tempt Vlaar. Then line up a creative midfielder for January. UTV!

Cleverly sums up everything wrong with football today, vastly inflated opinion of himself and happy to sit on the bench picking up cash rather than playing. What a shame when they crossed to bodymoor a clueless retard had to shout obscenities at the camera. Embarrassment to all villa fans and hopefully some of the other fans there gave him a good slap off camera.

I did some quick maths. Tom Cleverley's messing Villa and Everton about has just cost Man U roughly 9.8 Mill. If he had gone to Villa they would have gotten 8 Mill and now he will most likely sit out the rest of his contract of 50 grand a week. Roughly 9 months left with 4 weeks in a month making it 1.8 Mill in wages. So 9.8 mill for a player Man U don't even want. Very glad Lambert came to his senses and saw he was not worth the trouble. Also after all this bad mouthing I am off to check the odds of Cleverly scoring a hat trick against Villa this season. It's bound to happen.
