Lambert Looking For Clinical Improvements

Lambert Looking For Clinical Improvements

Manager Paul Lambert has said he expects tomorrow's game against Hull City to be completely different to the game and atmosphere we had against Leyton Orient.

With the manager talking again about how we have started the league season well - and the less said about our first Cup game of the season the better probably - Lambert told the Official Site that he called on the lads to show the same determination and commitment that they had shown in the last two league games and then if we can improve our current inability to hit a barn door more tha once every 90 minutes, then he feels we'll have a great chance of picking up all three points and giving ourselves a return of seven from a maximum nine.

With us all seeing defensive improvements, points alone that would be a great return from the first three games of the Premier League season and purely from a league table perspective, very few would argue with that.

'We've started really well in the league and we have to try and continue that. If we can win, we would have taken seven out of a possible nine. That would be a really good start. We have to try and win, we're certainly playing well enough.'

As for the touchy subject of the Cup upset, Lambert said that the bottom line is we have to let that one go now because we can't change anything, and being a cup game you certainly don't 'over analyse' it because everybody knows what the game hinged on - one shot on target and we didn't do enough with our chances and no amount of DVD re-runs will show anything different to that.

So for him it's simply a case of on to the next match, do what we have been doing and then try and improve on the clear deficiency we have had in all three games so far this season - hitting the target, testing the keeper and scoring.

'We've got to go and do what we've done in the last two league games, if we do that then we've got a good chance. I think we're playing well enough - we are more solid than last season. We have lads back from the other night too and we'll be ready for it.'

i dont think he wants to play dour football,, we are good at counter attacking but dont have the players to unlock teams like ourselves thats the problem,,,, fast pacy attacking with lots of movement and bodies in box,,,, this we can do,,, but we have just not made that final pass or better cross or slick finnish,, this will come but when we have to breakdown teams we are crap, lambert knows this and wants to correct it it may be christmas by the time he gets this right,, hopefully the other side of our play will bring us points till we get it right

Will the clinical improvements include more than one shot on target?.... a goal perhaps?..... It ain't much to ask surely?.....
