Aston Villa's U21 side battled back from behind tonight in the game against Blackburn Rovers to take a justified point for the second game running. This means Sid's boys have now taken two points from the opening two games following an identical scoreline against Stoke City on the opening day of their season. See: U21s - Blackburn 1-1 Villa

Manager Paul Lambert has tonight confirmed that left back Aly Cissokho won't make his domestic Villa Cup debut when we face Leyton Orient on Wednesday. Full: No Cup Debut For Cissokho

It`s strange when you sit down to think, or write, about Villa these days. When I did match reports I tried my best not to look at the bigger picture and to just talk about the game. (Still a vacancy for a match reporter by the way, we`ve lost Grizzly after a couple of fine seasons and I`m not going back to it I don`t think!) Where was I? Oh yes, focus on the game. Following the scoreless draw with Newcastle today, manager Paul Lambert has waxed lyrical about our start to the current season. Speaking to the Official Site after watching us fail to register an attempt even near to the target, the gaffer decided to focus on the positives defensively. Speaking about our two Premiership games so far, he explained. See: Lambert Pleased With Start

Ok, I`ll take my entertainment where I can get it when at the Villa. 90 mins and not one shot on target, so you look for your fun elsewhere! There appears a decent double act forming. Step forward Mr Lambert and Mr Keane. See: Comedy Duo Forming At Villa? Manager Centre Stump?

Please, sir, I want some more! I think that nine out of ten Villa cats will agree that the feeling that their team's win at Stoke produced on Saturday, was as much a pleasure as it was a novelty, and for me it seemed such a rarity that I totally forgot that Villa had enjoyed a similar inspiring win at the Emirates, last August, which seemed at the time, to portend all sorts of positive things for the season, which as every Villan knows, definitely did not happen. Hopefully this won't become news over the next couple of days but..... after Manure's embarrassing cup exit , Van Gaal is under some serious pressure and he will fix his defence at any cost. They need experience and someone he trusts to hit the ground running. I predict a big bid (£18mill) plus a player for Ron. And unfortunately with a bumper wage offer Ron will go. So anyway that's my prediction hopefully I'm wrong!

Taking account MK's win was engineered with the help of Sami C who we gave them for nothing.
