Unoial Villa News...

We are being linked with John Arne Riise. Can`t be bothered to go any further with the link if I`m honest!

Also some talk of Ron Vlaar to Man Utd. Again, meh. Can`t be bothered to worry about things I have no control over, will wait and see how things develop, hopefully the transfer window closes with him still a Villa player.

The football family extends far wider than our own teams, be nice to join in on the 17th minute with the Newcastle fans to show our respects to two football crazy fans whose lives were sadly ended by those stupid and cowardly events. See: 17th Minute Applause For Two Toon Fans

Our U21s opened their first game of the season with a one all draw against Stoke City yesterday. See: U21s - Villa 1 1 Stoke

A quiet day, but a bit of transfer gossip, but not an awful lot. Dutch paper TC Tubantia have quotes from midfielder Karim El Ahmadi who is hinting at a move away from the club when his contract expires next summer. See: Ins and Outs Still For Villa?

Skipper Ron Vlaar's performance against Stoke City on the opening day of the 2014-15 season has seen him selected in the BBC's Team of the Week round up. See: Vlaar In BBC Team Of The Week

Funny little world this Villa world we live in. Randy Lerner, who as we all know is looking to sell the club, is set to appoint a new CEO apparently. At the moment we have the finance director Robin Russell doing the role but according to The Telegraph reporter John Percy we are set to appoint Arsenal chief commercial officer Tom Fox. See: Arsenal Man Linked As Villa's New CEO

Only a snippet at the moment and nothing official, although it backs up a rumour sent to me from a member on Vital Villa earlier in the month ... blimey, I know an itk who actually gets something right (!) Anyway, The Nottingham Post says that former Villa CEO Paul Faulkner is set to take the helm as CEO at Nottingham Forest. See: Former Villa CEO Linked To Forest

So the rumoured arrival of a new CEO, the Arsenal commercial officer Tom Fox has now been confirmed as fact by www.avfc.co.uk. I`d rather the announcement of a £20million player or two, or a takeover, but in the smaller scheme of things, looks like we`ve a very capable commercial guy to replace another capable commercial guy and sometimes a change is good to shake things up a little. There was speculation earlier that left back Joe Bennett was set for a medical and loan spell at Championship side Brighton and Hove Albion and that has now happened. See: Bennett Makes Loan Move

Thought for the day: 'A woman was telling her friend, 'It is I who made my husband a millionaire.' The friend asked, 'And what was he before you married him?' The woman replied, 'A multi-millionaire....'
