'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Villa Times - 11/08/2014

Unoial Villa News...

Tonev is being linked with a move to Celtic, nothing official yet but looks like a goer... or a goner... or whatever he looks like.

We are being linked with Columbian World Cup star Carlos Sanchez. He is being valued in the press at around 4m.

Manager Paul Lambert has confirmed that midfielder Joe Cole is now back in training after his injury, and it's said Christian Benteke could be set for a September return. See: Cole Returns, Benteke Set To?

Following on from the earlier words of manager Karl Robinson, MK Dons have secured the permanent signing of midfielder Samir Carruthers. See: Carruthers Leaves For MK Dons

Midfielder Daniel Johnson will increase his first team experience with a three month loan spell to newly promoted Chesterfield. See: Johnson Leaves For Chesterfield

Returning right back Alan Hutton has said he sees no reason why Villa can't enjoy a far better season this term. Speaking to the Official Site following his own good form so far in our pre season build up, Hutton said everybody within the camp had 'high hopes' for a much better year following the shambles (my word) of the last few seasons. See: Hutton's High Hopes For 2014-15

Manager Paul Lambert has said he believes Villa are in good shape to kick off the season for real following our work over pre season. With a lack of clear cut chances for us in the game, we also restricted them defensively and it appears that formed most of the pleasure for the gaffer as he talked to the Official Site about encouraging signs he took from the match. Villa rounded off our pre season campaign ahead of the new season with a scoreless draw against Parma. See: Villa 0-0 Parma

Following on from the recent speculation, Aston Villa have tonight confirmed the four year signing of Aly Cissokho. The 26 year old left back joined us from La Liga side Valencia and we are just awaiting his international clearance. He spent last season on loan with Liverpool, making 19 appearances for them as they finished 2nd in the Premier League and speaking to the Official Site he felt he was destined to play for Villa at some point in his career after falling in love with Villa Park during his debut in the Premiership. See: Cissokho Signs Four Year Deal

The annual Bescot trip for the boys ended in victory thanks to an unlikely goal from former bomber Alan Hutton. Having come back into the fold this season, Hutton has been pretty impressive so far in fairness to him and he continued that yesterday evening with another decent showing and his first goal for Villa since joining us all those years ago back in 2011.
