'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lambert Thrilled With US Tour

Manager Paul Lambert has said he was very pleased with our mini Texan tour and he was delighted to sign off our time in the States with a win.

Speaking to the Official Site following our one nil victory over Houston Dynamo courtesy of a first Villa goal from left back Joe Bennett, the gaffer was happy with the progress we had made at this stage of pre season.

'Everything about this trip has been very good. It was hard in this game because of the heat, but I'm delighted with them again. It was really pleasing in these conditions, it was another win and it rounds off this mini tour really well.'

Lambert says that our 2-0 win over FC Dallas was warm enough to begin with, but last night he felt it was a 'dead heat' such was the humidity for the game, but he knows the players fitness wise should benefit from that.

'I was really happy with the team. For the goal, it was a good ball in from Andi and an unlikely goalscorer in Joe. But it will have done him the world of goal, he should have scored earlier with his first chance. Alan and Darren had efforts too and Gary had a shot which came off the post. Young Jack Grealish did well for us, he's got a talent, we just have to nurture him the right way and I thought Kieran Richardson was outstanding.'

With Joe Cole already out injured, and Fabian Delph going off injured after half an hour, Lambert also confirmed that Jores Okore was missing from the team as he had also picked up a knock to the knee in training, so his omission was precautionary as well, but neither of the three players have anything considered serious, and Delphy's was a foot injury so presumably he got a boot on his boot.

Unbeaten so far then...... Never mind, the PL starts soon.
Pride of Lions
Yup, their international team showed our lot up massively by being organised, mostivated and playing as a team.

As for our tour, not many games were there!? And that has to be a worry how many knocks already. We'll see come Aug 18th I guess.
