FC Dallas 0-2 Aston Villa

FC Dallas 0-2 Aston Villa

Villa opened up our Texan tour much earlier this morning with a two nil win over hosts FC Dallas.

I honestly can't tell you much about the game, mainly because I wasn't awake at 2am in the morning when it kicked off but it at least sounds like it may have been quite a bit more entertaining than the Mansfield clash - which wasn't bad as opening pre season friendlies go.

Goals came courtesy of strikes in each half, one from Andi Weimann - and we all hope he can really get himself on a run of goal scoring form and carry that through to the season as that has been the main disappointment in his play the last two years, that final touch of composure and confidence needed in the Premier League when you are in front of goal - and the other from Charles N'Zogbia who built on his 45 minute run out against Mansfield, his first in a season having been missing all last campaign with an achilles heel injury, as he put in a sublime free kick following a foul on Gabby Agbonlahor.

As will be a pattern on our Texan tour I think, manager Paul Lambert again played two different teams in each half, with Shay Given being the only constant.

Villa now start preparing for the game against Houston Dynamo.

So nice to see some thing don't change in pre season though, Ciaran Clark ad Fabian Delph in yellow card shocker!
