With the players returning to pre season training a few days back on Monday, manager Paul Lambert has said that he's been pleased with the condition that they all returned in.
With preparations now under way for another consecutive battle to avoid relegation - who needs football when you have our off pitch soap opera - Lambert obviously welcomed in Roy Keane for his first official day at work on Monday since his appointment as our assistant manager.
Speaking to the Official Site Lambert explained.
'They have come back very fit and it was good to see them. I've not seen them for the best part of seven weeks now. Every time you come back for pre season there is always that bit of apprehension about what people are going to do. But to be fair, on the first day the lads were fine.'
Of course our pre season plans hot up pretty quickly now that the players are back, with a friendly next Thursday against Mansfield before we head off on our two match tour of Texas where hats will be obligatory.
Some accurate shooting from our forwards may also be incorporated.
'I've got to get everybody fit for the first game of the season, that's the priority. We've got six weeks or so to get them ready. Hopefully we'll come through pre season without any injuries, that is always my main target really.'
We all know we could do with a good pre season to lift spirits and confidence, not only in the team and around the club, but mainly in the fans.
We lose to Mansfield and I'm emigrating.
