Freebie Striker Linked To Aston Villa

Must admit, I`ve been slack this summer with transfer rumours and I`ve not bothered to list the rumours in and out like I always usually do. My ambivalence is a worry to me as this was a passion, now it just seems a drag!

Boy oh boy, I know how to build up the excitement for an article!

Then again, Villa know how to build up the excitement for a new season with two free signings and one more apparently due in.

This time we are being linked to free agent Nicklas Bendtner.

The Danish striker was released by Arsenal last season and it seems with cover needed for the injured Libor Kozak and Christian Benteke, we are top of the queue to grab him.

The 26-year-old, who joined Arsenal as a 16-year-old, has seen interest from German clubs but he wants to stay in the Premiership.

His full career record can be seen here: Click Here

Makes sense, no matter how much we might kick and scream about the lack of proper transfers and the fact we are fishing in the freebie pool, if that is what the owner has decreed, the manager has no choice and can`t really be the brunt of blame - as much as I`d like to blame him for everything going for his performance since coming to Villa!

It is going to be fascinating to see if Randy will sanction any decent spending at all, he obviously wants out (not rocket science from Feario there is it, he`s put us up for sale!!!!) but surely he realises - or does he - that he will have to spend a bit and treat the club with at least a modicum of interest if he doesn't want to see us relegated before a sale.

He`ll hide over in the USA again this season (if no sale is found), his scapegoat Paul Faulkner has now signalled he is stepping down, so the manager will get the full brunt of fan frustration unless we get off to a half ok start.

I do look forward to doing an article about a link to a player who actually costs but with reports suggesting the budget this season is between 10-15million INCLUDING wages of the new players, I`m not sure we are going to get anything to really jump up and down about. That said, and we`ve not bothered with an article, Ashley Young has been linked with a return to Villa Park, not sure on that one, his wages alone would surely be a stumbling block? I`ve also seen the odd mention of Bryan Ruiz, the Costa Rican Fulham attacking midfielder.

Hey diddly ho, time will tell. I`m still hoping and praying... well, hoping anyway (!) that someone comes in with a proper bid for us, putting Randy and us fans out of our collective miseries and setting the Club back on the track to be run how it should be, as a top six club, not as a Wigan or Bolton.

Dear Unlce Randy, man up and spend some of the tv money from AVFC... Many thanks.

bentdner is a decent player, and would do well for us, although how would he fit into the side once Kozak and Benteke return? With Weimann, who is actually a striker, and Bent returning from the bomb squad, it could be a bit of a mess.

Bring it on. Harewood V2.

Think if he could bring 10 odd goals to the season, they would be very precious for a free signing. I guess the manager worries about who goes where when Kozak (didn't look like he was going to pull up trees really did he?) and Benteke are fit. Benteke could be out a fair while still and then he has to get match fit and hopefully then avoid more injuries. Big lad, lets just hope he does't turn out injury prone, it could ruin a very promising career.
The Fear
It would a great signing for us at this moment in time. Can't believe we'd be able to afford his wages though, I'm sure he'd get far better offers elsewhere

Surprised that people are not going mad about this lol. I agree with the general sentiment. Wouldn't want to be paying 5m for him but on a free it is a decent signing. He is also younger than I thought. His best years could still be ahead of him.

Rather have a goat join our team than him. Awful player, even free.

Shocking player in the Senderos envelope...oh my how far we have fallen
fatloser
Those in favour, have you seen him play???? Wenger persisted as it seems he had some sort of blackmail scenario over him. Definitely a shocking player. If true then we are getting in experience solely for the sake of it and regardless of quality. Gooner friends are terrorizing me after Senderos but we are a complete laughing stock if this happens.
Villan444
pretty sure we already are really 444. Even us fans are singing songs laughing at ourselves

We've just had a shot, we've just had a shot, how ***** must you be? We've just had a shot"

"It's only 3-0, It's only 3-0, how ***** must you be? It's only 3-0"

"We lose every week, we lose every week, you're nothing special, we lose every week"

The Fear
Do you think though 444, that those in 'favour' are only so because we know the new restrictions dictate this sort of move as opposed to the 'dream' moves we'd like, or even the just above average signings we'd need!? Might be, or maybe some think he is better than you/others (a fair few on the facebook part also saying no etc so he isn't exactly setting the fans imagination on fire that is for sure!)
The Fear
Lol. No-one takes the ***** out of themselves like Brummies mate. I understand the restrictions but he is no better than what we have. Go to Emirates at least 5 times a season and it's a mystery how he gets a game according to their fans.. Wenger's lovechild?? All he can offer is experience but don't see that as being enough atall.
Villan444
would rather see Bent starting
