Albrighton Leaves With Good Memories

Marc Albrighton has today signed a four year deal with Leicester City after rejecting the deal we offered him.

Having come through our Academy and signed his first professional deal back in the summer of 2008, Albrighton went on to make his debut in the UEFA Cup when we faced CSKA Moscow in February 09, and in total he has gone on to make 101 appearances across all competitions for the club, with 59 of those being starts.

In that time he scored nine times.

Having today penned his new deal at newly promoted Leicester, the 24 year old spoke to the Official Site about the 'wonderful times' he had at the club.

One of those memories was bagging the top flight's 20,000th goal.

'It was a great 16 years for me at Villa. I had some wonderful times there that will stay with me forever. I'm coming away now with my head held high and really looking to this fresh challenge.'

As Albrighton left as a free agent, his new contract won't kick in until July 1st, but given his progression through the Academy and his age, although we won't receive a transfer fee, I believe we will receive training compensation for him.

But I could be wrong on that score, although I know it would've applied had Gary Gardner not signed his new deal and left, having been offered the contract.

Too lightweight, too inconsistent, too injury prone, not a premier league player. Good luck for the future though Marc!

All the best. Sure he will do well for Leicester.

Our best player every time he played last season , I wouldn't sign for Lamber either. Good luck Marc

I'm not actually sure we offered him a new deal though we should have kept him. Good luck to him anyway.

Thought Delph for starters did so much more every game 57. Give Marc the ball, he'll get his head down and put a cross in which he did well but a winger has to do more these days and he hasn't improved recently. He needs regular games. Not Lambert's fault that our midfield was so budget that we couldn't play him against all teams due to his quality of teammates holding.

cant believe he went for nothing. Good guy, villa fan and gave us something to cheer this season. good luck Marc, but dont score in the holte next year.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be joining. Everything about Leicester City is moving forward at the moment and it's going to be a great football club to be a part of," ... Quote from albrighton. Says it all really, under Lerner we really are a club going backwards. Paying pennies in transfer fees/wages.... Real shame to lose him as he had moments of brilliance in him. Our midfield is weaker without him, that's for sure.

It will be good to see how he progresses under a good manager. Good Luck for the future Marc.
Pride of Lions
Bet Nigel Pearson can't believe his luck.

Not ever going to trouble the judges on the Ballon d'Or panel but a loss to our current squad no doubt. Good luck to the 'Tamworth Messi'.
