Delph Looking To Reach His Target

Fresh from being named as our Terrace Trophy Player of the Season for this campaign, Fabian Delph has revealed his is only one goal shy of the target he set himself in the summer.

The midfielder has capped a fine campaign, and definitely his best yet having recovered from injury and matured, by scoring four goals so far this season, all coming in wins against Rotherham, Southampton, West Brom and Chelsea.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the Manchester City game, Delph says he'd desperate to get another before the season ends so he can reach another one of his aims.

'At the start of the season I set a target of five, so I haven't done that yet. The goals I've scored have all been important but I 'd still like another one and maybe a few more assists.'

Out of the four that he has scored, three of those actually made it onto our Goal of the Season poll, but the players admits the most satisfying was his strike against Southampton back in September because it was his first goal in the Premiership and it was of course the winner on the night in a game that saw them dominate possession by 78%.

'To be fair I liked the one against West Brom as well, and my goal against Chelsea was really satisfying because no one gave us a chance in that game.'

Delph ends his interview by saying that Marc Albrighton however deserved bags of praise, because they had been working on cut backs in training and he knows it was massive for us that it came off in the game.

Let's hope Delph can go out on a high and get the other goal he wants, and let's equally hope it comes in another game we win!
