The Tense Run In For AVFC... 3 Points Required!

The run in gets tighter still.

All eyes on Villa v Hull next weekend, 3 points and we are safe. Even 1 point would surely be enough?

How has it come to this?

Mr Lerner? Look forward to your wisdom in the summer, or proclamation of sale or more investment. If you do have wisdom, then Mr Lambert will be departing one assumes.

As Grizzly pointed out in the forum:

"If we don't get another point this season...

Fulham would need to win their last two against Stoke away and Palace at home, as a win and a draw with their goal difference would not be enough to go above us.

Norwich would need to get four points with their goal difference from games against Arsenal and Chelsea to go above us.

Cardiff would need also to win their last two games against Newcastle and Chelsea to go above us.

Anything against Hull, City or Spurs and we are safe, other than that we are relying on the above or a goal shift of -15 onwards"

For me Norwich are gone, their run in has been stupendously bad, couldn`t have been worse. Cardiff have no chance in my humble.

Fulham are a bit of a nagging doubt, they seem to self destruct (accept against us) but have winnable (ish?) games v two already safe and sound.

Be interesting to see what the crowd is on Saturday, got to be the 12th man .. the 11 on the pitch don't always turn up but we do don't we?!

I'm also interested in who'll be refereeing the match......

Quite simple assuming we dont get another point Norwich need 4 pts Fulham or cardiff need 6 pts. Sunderland will finish above us anyway. We are depending on stoke to take care of Fulham and Chelsea to do the other two.

Hull is the key ,as apart from this season (somehow!) Man City & Spurs are no usually good fixtures for us . Hopefully Hull minds will be on the cup, as they're safe now & we'll get a point . But it wouldn't be a shock, if we didn't get another point or equally if we lost to Hull & beat Spurs/Man City . My gut feeling is however ,is that we'll go down, just as we did in the 60's & scupper the proosed rumoured takeover deal

The worse scenario is of course Cardiff, Fulham or Norwich all winning. Next, would be anyone one of them winning and us losing. Then it would go down to the last game of the season. Sunderland will probably lose to United on Saturday so they would be back in the mix as well. 4 to 5 teams in it with one game left, with our game being away at Spurs. (I'm discounting the trip to Citeh. No chance whatsoever there.) My gut feeling is that we will scrape in in 17th; that Fulham will struggle at the Potters getting a draw home and that Norwich and Sunderland will lose, with Cardiff beating Newcastle, only to then lose on the final weekend away at Chelsea. Our GD is mercifully worth a point and it will, if it comes to it, will save us though, though you never know. Either way, worst season in a generation.

Ive resigned myself to relegation, my faith in this team is gone. The board ,manager are a disgrace , only my love of my catholic Faith which is my sanity and Avfc ,fans are the truth. Iwill pray for The club AVFC

the scary thing with the bottom alot of them are having a lift from winning, whereas we are on a real losing streak

If we dont manage to get the 2 points out of our last 9 run in games (1/4 of a season) we fully deserve to go down
