Pre Swansea Injury News + U21 Update

Ahead of our crunch encounter against Swansea this weekend, which of our walking wounded might get the chance to Swan around?

Manager Paul Lambert has revealed ahead of the game that we could be without Joe Bennett for Saturday's game, as he has picked up an ankle injury in training this week, so he's more likely to add to his injury time out tally than games this season unfortunately following on from previous injuries he has had this campaign.

Leandro Bacuna did have a hamstring problem in the build up to the Southampton match, but following that game and training this week the issue doesn't seem to have come up again, so otherwise it's pretty much a case of how we were.

'Everyone pretty much seems fine from last time. Unfortunately, Joe has hurt his ankle so he's probably a doubt for the Swansea match. But everyone else seems fine.'

As helpfully alluded to in the article comments, and I've found it. Nicklas Helenius' agent Mads Bach Lund has confirmed on Twitter that his client has now bulked up a touch and is ready and raring to go after returning to full fitness following on from his own injury issues this season.

"NicklasHelenius is fully fit and ready to play if the team needs him. He has worked hard, gained some pounds and is 100% focused."

Remains to be seen if we'll see him on the bench, let alone the pitch with how the season has gone for him so far.

Another snippet of news, too small for an article really will interest those who follow the U21s.

Our outstanding game against Manchester City has now been rearranged and will take place at the Etihad Stadium this Sunday at 12pm.

This will be the U21s final game of this season and we currently sit in 13th place in the league, but could leapfrog Bolton into 12th with a win.

Not a sparkling campaign by any stretch of the imagination given we are more often than not usually in the battle for the top spots, but there have been a number of new debutants to the team this year, and of course a fair few new regulars promoted from the U18s along with Gordon Cowans being unable to call on the likes of Graham Burke, Jack Grealish and Michael Drennan at points owing to loan spells out for their own development, so difficult to be too disappointed really as the season has been steady and a relatively comfortable mid table finish.

Not another injury in training. What are they doing at Bodymore Heath?

Helenius is fully fit and available according to his agent on Twitter, though no doubt Lambert will have Bowery on the bench ahead of him though.

Is Gary Gardner still injured? I fear he may not get a new contract. I think he has real potential but has had so many injuries!
