Gabby In West Ham Chance

Manager Paul Lambert has said that Gabby Agbonlahor is doing a lot better with his foot injury, and is now an outside chance for the game against West Ham.

The striker picked up the injury in the game against Liverpool when he tumbled over advertising boards, but the Birmingham Mail are carrying fresh quotes I believe from our gaffer, who explains.

'It doesn't look too bad actually. He's been doing a lot better than he was. He's starting to put his weight on it now which is encouraging.'

Hopefully Gabby will get back into training properly this week ahead of the game, and at least play some part even if it's from the bench.

Villa are still to check on Ron Vlaar as well after he was substituted in the game against Everton after feeling his hamstring. It didn't sound too bad, and more precautionary than anything in Paul Lambert's initial after match interviews...but the Mail have fresh comments also.

'It's his hamstring. It's either take him off or he tears it properly. We'll have to have a look at him and see how he is. We just couldn't risk him.'

Be a big blow if Vlaar is out, every one knows how our results fluctuate when he's missing from the centre of defence and people will still be holding out hope that Everton was a blip following improved performances against Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion - but the arguments there of us or them being the telling factor will no doubt rage on.

I know he divides opinion but i think he is a big player for us. Hope he can get back for this game.

Not too sure he's divided opinions this year though, I think he's been shown his class consistently this season in the matches he's played, would be a great boost to have him back.

Yeah, agreed. Gabby has been one of our more consistent (in the positive way) this season, so hopefully he'll be ok for West Sham, even if it is off the bench for the last 25 minutes.

He's Mistah Villa, he should have a testimonial every year. He knows that if he went to a fashionable club he could get back in the England set up, but he would need to be forced out with a crowbar.
