U21 - Gardner & Bennett Get Reading Run Out

Well the positive from the game was the return to action of Gary Gardner and Joe Bennett as they both continue to step up their fitness following injury, however we did go down two nil unfortunately on the day.

Another of those annoying afternoon kick offs unfortunately at Bodymoor Heath, but they are what they are at this level.

Hopefully they'll be a fuller match report available from both clubs so we can judge somewhat better than a social media feed how we played on the day, but scanning through we certainly had a number of efforts at goal that you'd have liked to have thought we could made more of.

Gardner certainly had a few pops at goal, so hopefully his sharpness will be much improved and we can hopefully see what he can do in the first team if he shakes the niggles and injuries that have dogged him in recent years.

But Reading unfortunately took their chances when they fell, credit where it's due though, their social media feed comments we responded well after both goals.

Very glad GG was able to get a run out, Bennett too I suppose. You'd also think Bowery would be able to show some class in these sort of games as he's fit if he was anything near to being first-team standard.

I see Bowery didn't score again.
Jinksy68
Is Bowery supposed to score then?...... Lol Good to see GG some much needed match practice and Will O' the Wisp Bennett too.
Pride of Lions
good news about gg, any news on nzogbia? them 2 are needed in midfield for second half of season for sure

I don't think we'll ever see N'Zogbia in a Villa shirt again in my opinion. Apparently he's in no rush to return to football from injury.
VillaHippo
They better hurry up and give Gardner a new contract his ends this season and they haven't offered him a new one yet. I would hate to see him playing for someone else.
hightrinity
why don't you think he in a rush to play again hippo.
