Helenius Set for Loan Spell?

Nicklas Helenius' agent has said that Aston Villa still believe in his client, but may be open to loaning him out so he can get more games and experience in this country.

After practically being ignored all season, manager Paul Lambert said very recently that he believed in Helenius, who scored his first goal for the club in the Sheffield United cup defeat, and he was then sat on the bench again for our very next match despite his tidy finish.

Since then of course we have brought in Grant Holt on loan, so whether when talking about Holt being cover for Libor Kozak, Lambert also meant in terms of allowing Helenius out, or whether now Helenius knows he'll be lucky to see the pitch again this season so wants a loan for game time - I guess we'll never know.

Either way, agent Mads Bach Lund has spoken to Ekstra Bladet recently and explained.

'Nicklas is happy at Aston Villa. It's clear that he will not be sold in this transfer window. They have told him they believe in him. If something happens, it will be a loan. Now the question which arises is whether Aston Villa want him to develop at a slightly lower level or whether he will continue at the club.'

He goes on to repeat that Nicklas remains happy with us, but obviously wants game time as that will help him develop quicker, so the issue is, is he in Paul Lambert's plans for the immediate spring period and an important part of the match day squad as opposed to - my words here - simply a bench warmer.

If the latter 'it makes perfect sense for him to get playing time in the spring at a lower level.'

Since he joined the club he's had a handful of substitute appearances, so unless we are going to play him, at least give the lad a month out for some regular game time, get some match confidence and see how he does.

Surely we have enough strikers just making up the numbers, afterall, we aren't going to go four up front every game are we? Are we?

Oh dear! That is all.

Keep him. Lend Bowery to anybody who will have him.

In a way this kind of makes sense. Lambert brings helenius in for the future, with Benteke and Kozak our main striking options. Kozak is injured so he replaces him with Holt (who has a lot of experience and is a fairly combative striker like kozak) and offsets that by loaning out Helenius. I think PL knows that we are in for a battle towards the 2nd half of the season and probably doesn't see Helenius thriving in such conditions?

Laughable.

Fair comments from above but give the guy a chance! How will we ever know unless he has a couple of big time games under his belt! You signed him Mr lambert, knowing we needed players for now and the battle this season so why not trust in your decision and give him a fair go! Otherwise you are making a mockery of your own signings!
brisbane lion
Maybe PL sees him on the training ground every day and doesn't think he's ready yet. Maybe PL doesn't want to see another fledgling have the confidence knocked out of him like some of the other youngsters have had to endure. I'm trying to be positive here so just maybe it's the right thing to do. Regarding Holt, I am positive about him coming to B6. I know he's not a 20m player but he's hungry and he knows where the goal is. We just need to now buy a central midfielder with a bit of guile and stealth so he can choose down the wings or through the middle and keep the defence running towards their goal and trying to guess what we're going to do next because i'm a mortgage broker and if I know what's gonna happen next, you can be sure the oposing defenses do. UTV!!

Oh... ahem.
The Fear
Has anybody seen Fear's spirit? It was last seen broken, on the floor in the B6 area of the city....

This guy's played 2 halfs in German Friendlys, Spurs sub appearance in the League Cup and 15min in the FA cup and has scored 3 goals...That to me is slightly better than Bowery who has never scored and Holt's 2 goals in 21 games...But what would i know!!!
Jinksy68
Also this experience Holt has had please can someone explain how playing 98% of you Football in the lower Leagues is experience for the Premiership....Westwood's done exactly the same and has got nearly as much Premiership experience, same with nearly all our team...So where's this experience or is being old and fat the experience? Clueless Manger brainwashed supporters!!!!
Jinksy68
It's called grasping at straws. I'm even sick of my own moaning that has gone on for so long I have forgotten what its like to look forward to a game where we think we might win. I'll try anything at the moment, even Holt. If I am positive sometimes that gives me carte blanche to moan when I want.
Villa9696
Jinksy we arent brain washed its just if you smash someone over the head with a brick enough times they lose the will to live. The nightmare that being an Aston Villa fan is has gone on for 4 years every new dawn (or manager) is accompanied by another smash over the head with a brick and still we turn up in our thousands given the faint hope that the chairman might actually give a toss and invest in the team and the manager can actually buy the players the majority of the fans know we need. proven quality mixed with the youth we have already here. We are like a rudderless ship heading for the rocks 37000 fans can see it but not the people who matter.

lol@ Juddy... Aye! I am trying, honest!!!!!!!!!!

I had a girlfriend who said I needed my brain washed once. Said I'd got a dirty mind. Ahem, as for the serious point, I don't see many brainwashed to be honest, many are disappointed, especially as Lambert was a popular choice, many are angry and some are just desperately trying to hold on to some semblance of optimism. That for me isn't them being brainwashed, it is just trying not to give in to the dark side. Sadly, I've been pulled to the dark side, I've given up the fight for positivity, it hurts less this side of the fence!
The Fear
Helenius isn't German!?!? Like the look of him and hope he'll come good but now isn't his time. With 10-15 games under his belt in the championship, he will surely get better. To be honest, the losing mentality at Villa isn't helping anyone.
Villan444
This is becoming a joke, we sign the lad, he's scores in friendlies. He can't get a look in because of Benteke and Kozak (understandable) then Benteke gets injured and losses form, Kozak breaks his leg and Villa's results and performances drop to a new low. Rather than giving him a go and seeing what he does....... The managers plan! Tell Heleinus that he believes in him and then contradicts himself by loaning him out and bringing in a league one player who's completely out of form?????? Good stuff PL, he's says sarcastically. And I don't buy the he's too young call above either. What about the rest of the team?
AdzVilla11
Villan444 - who said he was German?
Jinksy68
Brainwashed are the fans that believe Holt is the experience we need the fans that think we have no money. The ones that say get behind the team and they will come good...Brainwashed into believing the crap that our club dishes out....We'' let me tell you if i got behind a turd will all my might it will only ever be a turd....GET IT? Sorry we have loads of brainwashed supporters!!!
