Lambert Tips Helenius To Shine

With a stuttering forward line further depleted due to the injury to Libor Kozak, manager Paul Lambert has said that he's confident Nicklas Helenius will step up to the plate and play his part for the remainder of the campaign.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game this weekend against Arsenal - gulp - Lambert said he was delighted for Helenius to have got his goal in the game against Sheffield United, and he feels he would have taken a lot of confidence from that and his overall performance in the game.

'There's chance for Nicklas to stake a claim. He did well when he came on, and if there's one plus from the game, it was Nicklas scoring his first competitive goal.'

Lambert admits he's had a difficult time of it so far since joining us, but reiterates that he's a 'lovely and nice guy' and that sometimes when you are his age, and you move to a new country and new league, it does take time for you to settle as not everyone hits the ground running at the same time, but he's training well, and he's confident he will play his part when called upon now and get even better as he adjusts more to the league with game time.

Only six appearances from the bench since he joined us, he does need some kind of run in the team for him to settle into the speed properly, but again his link up play and passing showed itself, and it was a nifty little finish showing he does know how to hit the net, so hopefully this will be his time and he will be the boost we need up front for things to click, as that has been sadly missing of late especially.

Then again it's not the only thing missing from our play, but you can't expect everything from the Dane.

Dunno why but i just got a feeling in my gut about Helenius that he will be a good player for us, he does need a run of games in the team just as Kozak has had Helenius deserves it now or when is he going to learn? Give the lad a chance.
Good luck Nicky

I love this. "Tips so and so to shine. ". I should think so too. , he signed him !
LOL Trekker too right and all, Nicl;as should have had more games by now i think, stop buying striker Mr Lambert and get a midfield alongside Delph and then Helenius Gabby and TekkerZ will score more pff not rocket science is it??
Haha couldn't agree more Trekker!
Lambert has realized that hes unable to sign any decent cover in the transfer window, and thats why hes saying this to Helenius
No emergency striker in this window then !
Clive, I feel the same about the lad. Pitty he hasn't played more, glad to see him get a run.
He'd better be otherwise it'll be Lambert getting his pants pulled down!
The usual smokescreen from Lamberk and Villa P.R. to cover the obvious failure to come in the transfer window. No reflection on Helenius but looks like he's been nominated as the fall guy.
Bit dubious considering Lambert hasn't given him a look in. Now all of a sudden he is ready. Maybe he will turn out to be our Flo, lets hope so.

Sounds a bit like Lambert discovering Helenius can play is a bit like a skint Uni student finding some loose change at the back of the sofa - nice unexpected surprise! He probably bought Helenius because he thought the Kozak deal wouldn't come off and after he did he put him back in his box and decided to play with his new toy.

Shine all our old trophies ? Why not play him then PL ?
Think wiemann needs dropping for a few games now- even heskey scores more goals than he does!! Benteke, gabby & helenius front three with Delph, Defour and another quality midfielder in behind!
Where was all this Helenius optimism when he was bringing on Jordan Bowrey as a sub? I think we'll be fine with Nic. Only reason we'd need another one is if the strikers we have run out of conversation when they're sitting atop the pitch waiting for service that never arrives
Holte End Hero
Maybe Lambert is just being honest in that the guy has had a bit of a culture shock and is taking time getting up to speed. Wouldn't be the first. Agree that he could've played more though. Got to be better than Bowery but we won't know without a run. Wiemann needs a rest and his energy may be served better from the bench.
So whats has changed to put him in front of bowery in the lambert pecking order? And if he can shine now then why not before. Idiotic comments.
Can you imagine it..... " I signed him, but I don't think he'll shine"..... Like your style thorpyuk.
