'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Happy 2014 Fellow Vital Villans

Ok, fair enough, this is a bit premature - there are a few hours to go before this is really appropriate, but simply put like many of us I'm hoping to see in the New Year by doing my best to forget the last one, and frankly I doubt anyone wants to see my ramblings at midnight.

Before I forget I had prepared a nice Christmas tree (well copy and pasted) but JF beat me to the Xmas message and I don't want it to go to waste.

See wasn't that worth waiting for!

Well here's to wishing you all, whether we argued, agreed, argued, agreed I was right all along, or argued, a very happy and healthy 2014.

It's been a testing year on the football front, few highs, lots of lows, and a fair amount of anger and frustration because whatever our own opinions may be on things at the moment, there's no denying we all want the same thing ultimately. A successful and entertaining Aston Villa - that without having a guaranteed right to win anything at all - at least competes for 90 minutes, each and every match, and when the fat lady does sing we go down fighting and we lose in the right way.

But there has been some cheer, the continued improvement for Stiliyan Petrov and the fantastic support for the 19th minute not only by our kin, but by football fans in general. The club and the generosity of our fans continue to be a shining light in terms of charity and our support of Acorns, Stan, Cure Leukaemia and every other charity we try and do our bit for.

Our very own Vital Villa Acorns appeal Click Here started 2013 with an overall target of £5500 I believe and I'm very pleased to say we've ever so slightly beaten that, which is no small feat given the current economy and the struggles we all have.

So to thanks to all who helped on that score and hopefully that will continue in 2014 where we all see an improvement in our lives and the lives of others (not forgetting the football of course!).

Finally, thanks to all members, contributors and readers simply for being you, being here and helping me and JF be able to talk to real people instead of just ourselves. It's hugely appreciated!

Have a fantastic New Year's Eve folks (those of you not already warming up for midnight) and for those who have already begun, I hope you had a fantastic New Year's Eve!

I'm sure we all look forward with expectant "excitement".... but regarding Villa it's a case of watch this space.....

That tree just made my night! Happy new year, it can't be much worse than last year (unless we get relegated of course)
