'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Villa Times 16/12/2013

Unoial Villa News...

Pre-Match: A glory hunting, armchair loving mate of mine commented that this is the best time to play United, a team we have not beaten at Villa Park since 1995. Indeed, the last time the Lions beat the Red Devils at B6, Blur were riding high in the charts with 'Country House.' 18 years and counting and we're apparently in with a shot after some some narrow, recent defeats, including last seasons 2-3 loss, having led 2-0 early on. Manure may have picked up two points from the last two games but they will still fancy this, even with RVP sidelined for a month with a thigh injury. We have some absentees of our own of course, with Vlaar and Delph both out, both key men in our line-up. See: Villa_Grizzly Match Report: Villa v Man Utd

Managers reaction: Manager Paul Lambert has bemoaned our defensive showing today as he was very disappointed to see us concede the three goals in the manner that we did. See: Lambert - Sloppy Goals Cost Us

randy.stand: It's been the Acorns 25th birthday celebration at Villa Park tonight. Apparently dear old Randolph received a standing ovation after he donated 1m to Acorns. See: Randy Lerner Donates 1m To Acorns

A little bitter tear let me down.. It was all kind of predictable wasn't it? Villa looked like they were on the verge of showing they were a decent team, who deserved their place in the top half of the table and they went and blew it. Worse still, it was not against a team in form, it was against a team in the doldrums and there wasn't even any redemption in their flat performance either. See: Something For The Weekend (445)

Following the rather thrilling 4-3 victory over Plymouth at Villa Park in the third round, Villa are back in the fourth round for the first time in a couple of seasons and our fourth round tie will see us travel away from home to face either Blackpool or Liverpool. Personally I`d have waited until after the Christmas period, but there is a poll in our forum asking if you would back or sack Lambert: Click Here
