AVFC Transfer Talk.. Young Winging His Way Back?

A little January transfer gossip!

The Daily Mail are linking us to Manchester United winger and former Villa player Ashley Young.

They say the fee would be in the region of 8million for the 28-year-old.

The report claims that despite being played v Shakhtar Donetsk and possibly today v us, David Moyes wants to shake up the squad and Young is one of the possible departures.

Newcastle and Everton are also apparently interested.

They point out that Young needs regular football in order to try to push himself back into England contention for the World Cup and that he isn`t likely to get that at Man Utd.

So, ignoring the fact this is paper talk and so probably not right (!), would you take him back?

I also put in a few transfer bits in a Villa Times earlier in the week as they weren`t meaty enough to do in a full article.

I can`t do a transfer article on these tenuous links but The Mirror are linking us to two strikers... yeah, more strikers, just what we don`t need really!

1) 20 year old Polish striker Piotr Parzyszek who plays for Dutch 2nd tier side De Graafschap (28 goals in 50 games).

2) Jurgen Locadio of PSV Eindhoven.

Shay Given is being linked to a move to Swansea in January. He`s currently on loan at Boro.

The Boro boss is quoted saying he would like to extend the loan of Given.

YES YES YES 8million for a player that would fit straight into the left forward role and score and create goals for us yes please, please nobody better tell me we have Tonev or any other avergae joe player cos i might growl tbh!
ClivetheVillan
Not sure if it's a good idea Clive. Besides, at 28 he's too old for Lambert and even at 8m a quality central midfielder is the type of player we're crying out for.
Pride of Lions
Here is the problem with these transfer stories - Villa are not going to pay anyone anymore than 40k a week. Is Young really going to take a 60k pay drop?
PiperUK
yes all day long if possible. get rid of lerner then maybe we have a chance.

Dont really want the diving little cheat back, his reputation is tarnished now and he already thoughty he was bigger than Villa once, I dont want him to do it again. Would rather the money is spent elsewhere. but if he signs I wont be crying as he would deifnately improve us. In his first 2 seasons he was amazing though and I thank him for those times.

come off the fence simont, tell us what you really think!

Yeah i suppose 8million for a player that gets fans on there feet and can score goals and create chances is way toomuch we could be spending that on way more average unknown players that only come here for cheap wages we offer, yeah i would luv to agree but im not brainwashed into this ''we can only afford cheap players'' and if Lambert says no like he did to Barry he can sod off aswell actually i would luv Lambert to sod off and take his obsession of buying loads of cheap players with him and his defensive football its doing my head in now tbh.
ClivetheVillan
Clive, you do sound brainwashed mate. Lambert is saying this to protect the owner and often players etc. Who do you want to replace him?? Let's see if they are allowed to spend big after Lerner got his hands burnt by previous managers and their idiotic decisions!! Houllier, 25 mil for Bencht who can't even get into a match day squad at the club who own him or the club that he's loaned out to!!!

Vill444 the only brainwashed ones mate are the ones that are making out Lambert has got a clue in what he is doing and make out this is a project whcih we will become a decent team and future with, Young is too good for this team your right we don't want or need that only lower league players for us nowadays for a lower league manager
ClivetheVillan
I had a feeling that we would be linked after Lambert's comments that he doesn't think Young is a diver. I mean we all know that he most certainly is but his comments got me thinking that he was trying to keep him sweet for a potential move. Not that I think it will happen though.
Dan Mantalis
He's not the player he was. He won't have the hunger or the motivation seeing this as a backward step. Plus, too much bad blood for me and we need a central ball playing midfielder not a diver.
VILLA_GRIZZLY
well look I wanna first say im not overly happy but not angry with lambert I really like him as our manager but the thought of having albrighton on the right and young on the left crossing balls into benteke, well I think would be great, I don't care if paul only brings in 1 or more addtions to the squad in January as long as its a attacking midfielder, not another striker we have enough of them
