Lambert - We Were Excellent

Lambert - We Were Excellent

Paul Lambert has said that he felt Villa were absolutely excellent tonight against Rotherham.

Speaking to the Official Site following the 3-0 victory, Lambert talked of his pleasure at our commitment, quality, and entertainment on the night.

'You have to earn the right to win a football match. I thought we carried on where we left off in the last three games. Some of the football was excellent. The third goal (Delph) pretty much epitomises the way we are playing at the minute. It was one touch football and the finish was great. All the goals were top class.'

They certainly were, whilst personally I think Andi Weimann's goal takes the biscuit for the sheer cheek and confidence he showed in trying it, Gabby's cross for Benteke's header was superb (Gabby was all night) and the third goal as pure team play potentially I haven't seen a better goal from us since the 13 pass job back when I was far younger and better looking where Deano put it in from a Staunton cross? against Ipswich or Wednesday?

It's late, I've toasted the win!

'Fabian deserved that goal because of the way he's been playing. He has been excellent.'

And we kept a clean sheet!

Ha ha, happy days.

Credit where it's due though, Rotherham can be more than proud of their contribution to the game. They didn't make life easy and they made us work for it, and with a bit more luck on their side - especially in the first half - the outlook on the game could've been very different indeed.

I'd imagine they are going to have a very good season indeed.

The lads was superb, the goals had me screaming and cheering out loud for joy, Gabby was unreal, he was in the middle out wide lol brilliant,England are missing out on some proper in form players i think in Delph and Gabby, Westwood is neat and tidy as usual spraying the ball out to Bacuna who was free on the right all the time, but thanks Mr Lambert and the lads made me happy and cuffed to gp to this game glad i went now ;) UTV!

helenius did ok nice touches etc Tonev was alright he had a burst down the left leaving the players for dead from the half way line but looked like he was trying a bit too hard with a shot about 50 foot over the bar, all in all i think looking at Tonev and Helenius they have good technique but need time to settle in, Okore and Bacuna were good, luv the way Okore starts our moves off from the back reminds me of Franco Baresi for AC Milan he used to do the same for them, keeps getting the ball waiting to pop it out to space when an opening appears luv it.

Does anyone know any thing of Gary Gardner's whereabouts? Is it just a case that he hasn't been making the match day squad or is he completely out of favour or something?

Has anyone seen the possesion stats on BBC? Its a JOKE 52% Rotherham I dont think they like the Villa ! Anyway some of the football tonight was brilliant really entertaining we can say its only a League One side, but you still need to play and we did ! I hope we can continue this in the PL, however I do fear with a good cup run we are going to burn our players out as from the team we fielded last night I think its quite clear Mr Lambert means business perhaps he is just adomant on winning something this year? WE MUST MUST KEEP PAUL LAMBERT he is the future of Villa and I can see him doing something like what Sir Alec or Wenger has done at their clubs (ex clubs)

Thanks for the good words Mike - obviously we were disappointed and would have like to score a goal but we aren't disheartened. Re the stats black_villian, I was a little surprised too but it's usually the Millers who are saying 'I don't think they like us'!
