Bent To Palace?

It's being reported in the press that newly promoted Crystal Palace have agreed personal terms with unwanted striker Darren Bent, and now they hope to reach an agreement with us.

The Mirror were the first with the story late last night, but rumours suggesting that Ian Holloway was interested in the striker have been rumbling on for some time but nothing concrete seemed to come of things.

However, they report that our 6million asking price is a little rich for the London club, and they want us to agree to a lower amount to make the move happen.

If there is any truth in this there will be a deal here that suits everybody. A lower up front price and then clause based follow up payments would seem to be the likely outcome.

So they've agreed personal terms with Bent, before even agreeing a fee with us? I thought a fee had to be agreed first, before a player can talk to club? Anyway I'm not complaining, let him go, get 6m and put it towards Joleon Lescott or some other top CB

if 6M is too much for them for a proven premiership player never mind a proven goal scorer, then they are truly doomed. Cheap skates, should've stayed in the championship where they belong
Just goes to show how far his stock has fallen if true. In a year he'll be playing championship football. I just hope this wakes Fulham into putting in a proper bid for the value we want.
Just need permission to talk SJH, a fee doesn't have to be agreed first it just means his personal term agreement (if true) are provisional not signed.
I remember Holloway at Blackpool laying into us very snotilly for supposedly trying to get Charley Adam for an insultingly low fee. Best Villa remember this if Holloway/Palace really are trying to do a deal!
If Faulkner hadn't given him such large wages then he'd be much easier to shift.
Deal at 6 million :) Randy Lerner is the banker of Deal and No Deal and won't offer anything less to release Bent from his madness 65k (reported) a week contract.
Seems a bit like putting the cart before the horse to me.....
Pride of Lions
Get him out and get the Nurenberg guy in....
Crystal Palace...a half-arsed club that used to be famous

Remember Chris Armstrong?
Cheers for clearing that up Mike, wish him the best of luck wherever he goes, at 6m someone is getting a bargain

No probs, just means clubs can save some time if the player and new club can't agree provisionally instead of spending all the time negotiating. Absolute snip at 6m isn't it, daylight robbery really but we've made the rod for our own back when it comes to a fair fee for him sadly.
6million for a once fit and playing regular striker that will score you goals and may end up at Brazil representing England is an absolute steal, but he is 29 now so probably got another couple of years most before he really fades away down the divisions imo, shame Lambert couldn't utilise him more which im sure he could have but good luck to Bent!!
Bent has been the model pro, not said or done a thing wrong even after it became clear that he was not in Lambert's plans. I hope he gets the move he wants (where ever that may be to) and becomes the league's 3rd highest scorer after Benteke and long as he doesn't score against us. ;o)

"Tonight Matthew, I'm going to be Villan444".............enters through flashing lights and ice mist: " Bent is rubbish and should never have been bought here in the first place. He can only use one foot and only uses that in the 6 yard box. Anyone can do that, including all the players I've played with. He is of detriment to the team on the field and to our AVFC budget every day. Get rid of him and buy a good defender. Did I mention that all the other team who bought him couldn't wait to get shot of him after a few seasons too? He may score goals but he detracts from the team which is built around him thereby negating his goals and meaning we are better off without him as all the other players can never do their jobs as they are always compensating for his inability to do anything other than stand around and wait for a shot. Kiss my teeth Bencht! " ALL IN GOOD JEST V444.
Hey 444 fans!!!! Well, fan (singular) at least koolbill ;-). What have you been drinking/smoking?? Well put anyway young apprentice. No-one likes a goal hanger and Bencht is sadly incapable of any other role on a pitch. Everyone liked Holman even though he was crap because he put the effort in for the team.
Less than 6m an absolute p!$$take - rather keep him in the reserves.
