Players & Their Contract Length At Villa...

Interesting forum post by 1958Villan that I thought worthy of front paging:

Not counting Jed Steer, whose contract needs to be ratified, this is the list of players we have and when their contracts expire.

Ireland
Bannan
Delfouneso
Gardner
Clark
Herd
Albrighton

are all contracted until the end of June 2014.

Vlaar
Bowery
Agbonlahor
Delph
El Ahmadi
Stevens
Bent
Hutton

are contracted until the end of June 2015.

Given
Bennett
N'Zogbia
Helenius
Baker
Luna
Lowton
Sylla
Bacuna
Westwood
Weimann
Benteke

are contracted until the end of June 2016.

Tonev
Okore
Guzan

are contracted until the end of June 2017.

Would it be worth buying out some contracts?

If so, whose.

Interesting how we are happy Weimann has signed a contract and lambasting Benteke for not signing his, yet both players are contracted to the Villa for similar lengths. I can see benteke not signing a new contract and also not moving this window (short of a chelsea mega bid).

The only reason in my opinion to give Benteke a new contract is if he guarantees us 2 more seasons. If its only 1 then why give him any more money? He has to play well to go to the world cup anyway...

erm i was thought, Vlaar contract is up to 2015 not 2014.. he is sign for 3 years last summer... 2012-2015.

It says 2015 not 2014 for Vlaar. The dates are at the bottom of each list.

It would be worth buying out Bennett's contract - lets start a whip round at the first home game.

Why buy out any contacts? For the same money we can keep players until their contracts run out - might as well have them around just in case, even if they are a bit rubbish (i.e. Bennett....)

ah thanks point me out, astonthriller, I dont read proper cos normally start and list, not other way... my mistake... i think Gary Gardner should add 2 years contracts or lose him..clark should give 2 years extended too.. give him chance..
