Antonio Luna Joins Up

Aston Villa have completed the signing of former Seville left back Antonio Luna.

And yes, he did tell the Official Site he was over the moon.

Ok he didn't.

The 22 year old has signed a three year deal at the club.

'I've always believed that I could play in the Premier League and to have this opportunity with a club as historic and huge as Aston Villa and with a manager who is building a squad of young players with great prospects is tremendously exciting for me.'

I was going to go with Lunar Landing but thought better of it.

Just hope he keeps his feet on the ground. Is that it now, or is another keeper expected? Interesting if Holman is off, we have so far lost 4 (Petrov, Dunne, Lichaj and Holman) and gained 5. Lose Bent and its quits and last year we had a young, inexperienced and thin squad. Hmmm.

Welcome to the Villa, we have decent competion for the left back slot now. We surely must have spotted this guy whilst checking out Hutton's performances for Mallorca?

Hope he is not just a squad player. Bennett at times was shocking, god going forward but a fullbacks main job is to defend.

Yes but of those 4 contributed 31 starts between them, through illness, injury or falling out of favour. The 5 coming in have the potential to contribute to the first team. Some will become early regulars, I'm thinking particularly of Okore. To be fair to him Stan is still contributing and I would argue he played a greater role last year than Bent in our survival.

Excellent news. Bennett needs some pressure to get his act together. Welcome Antonio.
