Totally agree Fear, however it is sometimes best to face the better teams early on as there are always surprise results during the opening weeks. Well that's my way of thinking and we need all the hope we can get. UTV

This will be like our December straight off. Then we can just progress as the newcomers will know what they're up against.

Tough start but Christmas and the end of season run in are favourable. Good to get Arsenal and Chelsea away out of the system early too.

If we get off to good start you never know, 4 points from the 3 games would be great.

Couldnt have wished for a worst start to the season. Ok yes anything can happen but there is a very real chance we could lose our opening 3 PL games and with such a young squad that can seriously hurt confidence (as we saw in Dec/Jan last year). In our first 9 fixtures we are playing 6 teams who could arguably finish in the top 6. On the other hand after seeing our opening fixtures last year I thought we would be in the top 6 at the end of October and that didnt work out either!! Lets hope our boys are ready to start with a bang.

I think it's best to play the more difficult games early in the season, before the big guns have got into their stride. No problems!

I always thought our easy start last year would hurt us primarily because Lambert was trying to rebuild an entire side and it would take time to gel. It would have been better to get the tough games out of the way first to maximise points against the easier sides. If Lambo is going to replace alot of players again this fixture list may be good for us in the long run. Livercack and Arsenal might not get off to flyers in anycase

Results can be askew at the start of the season as everybody is yet to find rhythm and form. I'd rather get these out of the way. Sets a good standard for the coming games as well. Best to avoid promoted teams in the first month anyway. I watched a magazine piece on Sky Newsd about the guy who works out the fixtures. He was talking about public holidays, like Boxing Day and New Year. he was saying that owing to reduced policing and travel limitations he tries to make the games accessible for fans..naturally then we are playing Sunderland away on New Years Day. Obvious. How does that even make sense. Wont be going to that one then.

I'm 100% with HE69 and Fear - play the big fellas early whilst new signings are still settling in and the big fellas haven't run off their holiday bellies yet. We could surprise a few. Looks like we might also enjoy December this year more than last!?

So, it could be mid September realistically before we put a point on the board...

Presumably the Chelsea game will rescheduled to the following Tuesday or Wednesday so it doesn't clash with the future European or international fixtures so it's still a solid start. I looked further on into the fixtures and we have Albion on a Tuesday night in January, like someone said further up about that bloke on sky sports surely that fixture shouldn't happen on a Tuesday night?!

Some negative fans on here! Arsenal are slow starters ,Liverpool ,well no fear factor from them, they are on par with mid table teams now and Chelsea! Don't think that special one factor Means any thing now, plus they will all have new players to blend in also! Have some faith oh negative ones,I can see 4pts for us !
