Giant Striker Joins Villa!
Linked several times, now 6ft 5ins Denmark striker Nicklas Helenius has signed for AVFC....
What is going on? The press are getting the links right this summer!
www.avfc.co.uk quote Villa manager Paul Lambert saying the 22-year-old from Danish club Aalborg BK has a good record and will make a good addition to the squad.
He`s signed a three year deal keeping him at Villa until the summer of 2016.
Helenius is team mates with another new recruit, Jores Okore.
"Nicklas is a young lad but also a full international with a good goalscoring record in Denmark and he'll prove himself in the Premier League. The opportunity will be there for him, as it will be for the rest of the lads, and he has all the attributes to go and take it. He wants to go and make a name and a career for himself and he's made a good start at Aalborg. It's a case of continuing to work hard and building on that and I believe he can. He's a good player and the potential is there for him to grow into the team and grow with the team. He'll definitely be able to give the team a hand."
The official site also state that he`s got 16 goals in 33 league appearances last season and set up seven goals.
Helenius has called the move a "big dream` and a 'big opportunity` for him.
"I know we have a young team and I know we came through a test last season and got better as a team over the course of the campaign. I watched the game against Liverpool at Anfield and was very impressed by the way the team played. As we got more confidence in the game, we became better and better and won 3-1 with some great attacking football."
He is also looking forward to the 'incredible` atmosphere at Villa Park.
Ending, "I want to show the fans that I'm hungry for this and that I'm very proud to be a Villa player."

Click the link for the full interview. The one question that interested me was:
Is he ready for the Premier League?
is a difficult one, because I don`t want it to sound like he won`t be a success in the Premier League. He could well be. He has the attributes and I hope he does well.
It is just that Villa fans should not expect a ready-made Premier League striker straight away. We haven`t seen him tested at the highest level yet and it might have been better for him to develop playing in somewhere like the Dutch league first. It will suit him and Villa if they let him learn slowly rather than putting too much pressure on his shoulders.
It will be really interesting to see how he gets on against defenders like Vincent Kompany and Nemanja Vidic.
He has potential, but he has lots to learn and needs to develop his physique and all-round game. I don`t think he is quite as ready for the Premier League as Jores Okore yet.
