AVFC - Deal Bent Out Of Shape + Transfer Talk

AVFC - Deal Bent Out Of Shape + Transfer Talk

Just a few snippets today in regards to transfers.

Brett Holman has said he might need to leave. Understandable I think as he isn`t a regular under the new manager and he doesn`t want to just sit in the bench (always like players who want to play as opposed to thinking just of their wages).

The 29-year-old midfielder told

'Considering what happens after Tuesday night {Australia could qualify for the World Cup} and, obviously if we get a win, I'll have to look at the best place where I'll play football."

Adding, 'I have to be playing to be fit. If that's at Villa then so be it, if not, then so be it as well. I've still got two more years at Villa, so it's not as if I'm in a panic situation where I'm looking for a club and I'm desperately looking to get out. We'll just see what happens next season.'

The Mirror say that Newcastle only want to pay a 'nominal` fee for Darren Bent and the player will have to lower his £75k a week wage demands.

Why on both counts? Why should we sell for a nominal fee? Makes no sense to me, he`s only 29years old and is a proven goalscorer.

Nice few quotes from Villa newboy Jores Okore in, a regular read in the Fear household!

'I have a good feeling it was the right decision to turn down Chelsea." Adding, 'I feel that I have arrived at a club that believes in me. The manager has said all the right things and that has caught my attention. This is going to be good.'

Also seems that Denmark captain Daniel Agger told Okore he was good enough for the Premiership. 'I have talked to him a little bit about the Premier League and how tough it is to play but he thinks I've got the skill set for making it in this league. I do too so that is the only thing on my mind. I am really looking forward to playing and getting this going and getting the fans inside to see me.'

An excited player. Lovely to read.

Feel a bit sorry for Holman. He was in the team at the beginning of last season as Lambert weighed up the squad but once he'd settled on a style of play wasn't deemed good enough.

Holman gives his all but is lacking in creativity for me and we need more tbh. Good luck to him. Other rumours today see us in for Ruddy as Lambert looks to offload Given. Maybe nothing in it but we do need GK backup and would Ruddy come in as No.2?

Couldnt see Ruddy being No.2 or Norwich selling for cheap either...

I hope he gets another 6 months. Play some cup games to prove his worth.

I agree about Holman, he needs more than his engine. As for Bent, whatever we get is a bonus. Someone will take him. Okore, boy does he talk a good game. It remains to be seen but he had me at 'I'd rather sign for the Villa than Chelsea because'... It all might end in disaster but Lambert's Magical Mystery Tour is certainly the bus to be aboard. Exciting.

Selling Bent for a "nominal fee" is disgusting. £6m is a absolute steal for a player of his quality, we should tell Newcastle to **** off. I will not be happy if we sold Bent for a ridiculously small amount simply because Lambert does not like him personally. Villa should tell Newcastle to either be serious about buying bent or ***** off. We are not in a financial situation where we need to sell Bent, we are not on the verge of bankruptcy, or liquidation and he is still a good player so Newcastle have no basis to even make such an insulting bid

No david. Lambert has nothing personal against Bencht. He just isn't good at anything apart from 1 touch finishing. When you're playing with A main striker as the spearhead of your formation, you need him to be able to hold up the ball or win headers or anything other than poach. He was a complete rip off at £24 mil. At 29 years old and seeing that he's played a handful of games in the last 12 months, keeps getting petty injuries and will demand a large wage, we'll be very lucky to get £6 Mil for him. No sell on value, only gets goals to the detriment of the team, needs to be top boy which he's never going to at a team in the top 15 in the prem as they will always have someone better. Biggest of Randy's wastes of money by a country mile. He didn't keep us in the prem the year that he joined, Houllier's hospital trip did as McAllister was in charge.

beg to differ villan444. looking at the position and the goals he scored, no other strikers could have finished them. to me, bent did keep us up
17/06/2013 04:52:00
Agree with Gruck. His goals did keep us up so as far as value for money goes, he's paid off his 'debt' in my eyes? What does relegation cost, £50M +? He's not in Lambert's plans and on 70K + a week; get him shipped out somewhere else and let's put the money to better use paying 2-3 younger, hungrier players wages.
17/06/2013 09:24:00
Wherever Bent goes he will score goals. I just hope Lambert's delicate ego doesn't come back to haunt us.
