Bannan Delighted With Scotland Call

Barry Bannan has received a late call up to the Scotland squad.

The 23 year old received a telephone call from 'wee' Gordon Strachan today and will travel to meet the squad for their games against Wales and Serbia.

Both his recent form, and the withdrawl of Albion's James Morrison have gifted him an international chance again.

Speaking to the Official Site after the shock call, the mini midfielder said:

'I had a call from Gordon Strachan when I arrived for training this morning. He had seen that I'd been playing for Villa again over the past couple of weeks and said he wanted to call me back into the squad. I was over the moon. I'm looking forward to chatting with him, he wants to outline what he wants to do with the Scotland team. It's a big honour to play for your country, I've been lucky to get my chance so hopefully I can stamp my mark in training and play in the games that are coming up.'

Bannan may have been the late call up but as everybody knows we have a number of Villans on international duty.

The most interesting fixture this International window is possibly the game between the Republic of Ireland and Austria next Tuesday. Ciaran Clark is in the Ireland side and Andi Weimann is in the Austrian squad.

Christian Benteke is on tour with Belgium.

Bannan, obviously, joins Alan Hutton in the Scottish squad.

Ron Vlaar is on Netherlands duty, with Brett Holman on an Australian walk-about.

Leaving Statesman Brad Guzan as our final call up.

Only one thing left to say really. Don't get injured please!
