'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lambert 'Guzan Has Been Colossal' Hunt Disagrees!

Paul Lambert has singled out Brad Guzan for praise on www.avfc.co.uk.

It is amazing really, 54 goals conceded but really, he has been amongst our best if not our best player this season!

Guzan, who flew over whilst out of contract to meet Lambert and congratulate the new gaffer on getting the job, which led to him re-signing, has been 'colossal` according to the Villa boss.

'I think Brad has been exceptional. He's been absolutely colossal for the football club. I wouldn't swap him. He's a really good guy as well, which is important. He's always bubbly and is a good character."

Guzan home kit

I`m also told by several that Guzan is a top notch character and a gent off the field of play, which is nice!

He also praises Given and then adds, 'But Brad has made some massive saves for us in big moments and he's been a credit to the club. To have a good goalkeeper is vital and fortunately this club has got two top goalkeepers.'

Similar in the Express today.

Guzan says he is loving his time as the first choice.

"It`s great to be playing regularly, but I still need to prove myself and can`t be complacent. To come to Reading and then go down a goal, shows our character, our belief, our fight and spirit. We played some really good football."

Meanwhile Reading player Hunt is moaning having been bundled over by Brad about not being awarded a penalty. To be fair, he has a point and do we care? No, because we have the three of them (points that is!)

Hunt said: "I`ve seen the offside and I`ve seen the f****** penalty on me in the first half and it`s a disgrace," he said. "It`s a joke that he has not given it, I don`t know what he is looking at. He`s just punched me in the back of the head and you wouldn`t get away with it in rugby."

Player of season then you think? Guzan not Hunt obviously!!!

54 goals conceded, you'd think the keepers we had were no good, but just not the case at all. Glad Brad has come back!

'punched' in the head? not a chance! I've been really impressed with Guzan since hecame in for those few games last season: he's what I'd call a 'proper' goalkeeper, fearless in coming out for the ball, not worried about being clattered to get it (take note Hunt), great at coming off his line to claim the ball and doesn't try to make saves look more difficult than they are.

Change the 'H' for a 'C' ......... you're the joke Noel. Guzan is immense. UTV

Hunt was obstructing and making no effort to play the ball. All of their offsides were warranted.

It's a good job we do have Brad otherwise if it wasn't for him, our goal difference would be seriously embarrassing.
Pride of Lions
Hunt needs a reality check, he was making no effort to lay the ball and Brad simply brushed him aside. If it was gven as a penalty then we should also have had one in the second half when Taylor did exactly the same thing. Just a sad little no mark with our grapes

Hunt learned his football at an Irish junior club called Johnville in Waterford. Not the most popular bunch locally as they think they have a god given right to everything so I'm not surprised he brought his bag of chips with him to Reading.

Guzan has been superb this season. Commands the box (unlike Given) and if you get in his way, you'll get flattened. That's what goalies are supposed to do. Unless you're 'continental'. Proper goalkeeping.

Goose Guzan has been immense this season. There's a man to have in the trenches. Always sticks his nck out does the Goose. Never afraid to make a challeneg or give someone a rollocking and what a shot stopper. Gives the kids infront of him massive confidence.
