Time For The Villa Team To Go To War For The Fans

Have you got that horrible, nervous feeling as well today?! I`m sure most have.

My facebook status yesterday summed it up I think...

Tight chest, racing heart, tingling in limbs, shortness of breath, dizziness and a panicky feeling? No, not a heart attack, just another Villa game approaching.

It shouldn`t have been like this this season should it?!?!?!?

Paul Lambert has told the press, including James Nursey at The Mirror they know the meaning of these games and will have to go out and have a real 'war` now.

"...we have to see it through. We are going to have to fight for every point and everything. We have to earn the right to win a game."

Amen.

Nothing but 110% from every single player will be acceptable today, plus v QPR, and obviously for every game til the end of the season. There ARE enough teams we COULD beat to push us to safety but they have to raise their game against the clubs around us, not just the 'big` teams. Nice performances v Man City, Man Utd etc are all well and good, it is Reading, Wigan, QPR, etc we are in the battle with.

We cannot lose today. We simply CAN NOT LOSE. We have to win in all practicality, and then again next week.

I know you know this. I know you know I know we all know this. But it is almost therapy writing it. I`ve already had too much caffeine and am already at the peak of stress for the game, made worse for me by a health induced 'boycott` of away games. I think you feel more in control when you are there, at the game, shouting with the fellow claret and blue army.

I digress....

Lambert goes on to say what a fabulous place Villa is for the players to work at and maybe some of those who have come through the ranks don`t quite realise.

He again stresses that the confidence does seem good in the camp. Great, now show it on the pitch!

'We are not lacking any courage or confidence to go and compete with teams. If you win these two, we'll be right up there. They are huge games, I don't think anyone can hide behind that. We are playing well enough to go and win them. We will try and play the game not the occasion. If you get caught up in the occasion that can hurt you.'

Go to war Villa. Go to war for us. We`ve backed you ALL season, we`ve not turned (most of us anyway) and now it is your turn. Back us, give us something back to cheer about.

Gulp.

The fans have stood up and been counted. Now we need our 11 men of claret and blue to do the exact same thing. Come home with three points and help some of us come off the beta-blockers!
