Ireland The Latest To Go Youthful?

It's being reported that Stephen Ireland is the latest to be 'exiled' to training with the youth team, although no strict reason has been given nor proof.

The reports have stemmed from the midfielder not being in the squad for the last two games, and they then suggest - without source I might add - that this week he has been instructed to train with the youngsters.

There are no quotes, no sources close to, nothing by way of weight, but since when has that stopped speculation taking the internet like a fire storm.

The problem we have is there's form for this isn't there, but I certainly haven't heard of any falling outs lately. Everybody has their own opinions on what Ireland may or may not bring to the table, but I think it would be hard for anybody to say at the moment Charles N'Zogbia is not deserving of his place and it does seem Paul Lambert seems to have come round to the idea that it's an either/or situation between Ireland, Bannan and N'Zogbia.

So could that simply be why he's out at the moment?

Won't stop the conspiracies mind you, and I'd imagine unless there is a flat denial by somebody this will run and only gain pace if he's not in the squad for our next match again.

Just seen a quote from Lambert - 'I just picked a squad'. Clears that up then doesn't it :-(

I think this is all a misunderstanding. People don't seem to realise that our "youth team" IS our first team!!!!

Why? I think Ireland is a waste of space and anything which hastens his departure is welcome as far as i'm concerned.

This isn't the first manager to lose patience with Ireland.Bit too much of a pattern emerging here to say Ireland is hard done by.He was class against Man U though

Has a stinking attitude and lazy as, not what we need right now no wonder he's training with the youth squad. Never wanted him should've asked for money instead of him for Milner them comments he made a while back have never been forgotten by me, ungrateful, overpaid swine.

He should join Anonymous - because that's what he is on the pitch. He limps around like Kaizer Soze, convincing us he doesn't stop Stoke or Wham - gladly I'd take Charlie Adam in return.

Think the guy has been given more chances than any other player by the fans on here and he has rarely produced. Would suggest that if your outside the first team squad does it matter who you train with? CDX sums it up for me along with Bannan they are surplus to requirements.

He's a "midfielder" who doesn't defend. During the debacle against Chelsea (we were terrible before he came on and embarrassing after he came on) he just wandered around the midfield. In his position you either have to be working hard to keep the shape or tracking runners. He did neither. Going forward he doesn't have pace, 90% of his passes are misplaced, and he doesn't get goals. He can be good on the ball at times but I can't remember a solitary time that he has turned a game in our favour with this.... He's a luxury player with very few luxuries.....

Koolbill I would take Charlie Adam in exchange for Ireland,Bannan,Delph,KEA.or Albrighton and it is not that I rate Adam that highly but hes better than most of our existing midfield.

He is 100% not training with the youth team. But he has had his chance to show what he has got and hasn't really delivered, he has a poor attitude towards his trade too. Still better than that useless feck flyboy Bannan though. Hopefully both will be gone in the summer. Along with a couple more I hope. Keep up the rebuild, UTV

Ireland has had far more chances than he deserves. His performance against Wigan sticks in my mind, I was astounded at the booing from the fans when he came off and I mean alot of booing. I didnt as I never would boo one of ours, but a player that earns 55k a week and litterally just wonders around the park, giving no real effort unless HE can be bothered, then he needs to go and train with the youngsters. Try and find a way of improving his desire once again. I dont doubt his abilty, not for a second. Put Milners head on Ireland's body and you get a Ronaldo, Zidane or Messi!. Just like his first season with Citeh.

Why don't we just get rid of Ireland/Makoun and Dunne, maybe Given. I'm sure there wages well covor the cost of 3 good players that well actually play.

The team is playing well and individuals are playing well within it. Even Bencht did a job for the team and is knuckling down. Maybe Ireland's ommission has let him know that it's not personal with Lambert. Sort it out andy, the manager knows best, get behind him and the team that's playing. Forget your fantasy football selfishness.

it is obvious that Ireland is a very talented player, but aside from one exceptional season at City he has always flattered to deceive with one good game here and there and far too many where he has been useless or anonymous. for me, his problems arent in his feet, though, but in his head.

If he had consistently performed to anything like his ability, we would be mid table. Because he hasn't, Bent didn't get the service, got dropped and we've struggle to score ever since. I'm furious with Ireland and if N'Zogbia goes off the boil again I'll be done with him too. It is unforgivable that we have scored so few when we have someone with Bent's record not playing. The whole thing is a write off and after the next 2 games we'll be back in th mire. Ugh

It's obvious he is on the way out this summer but PL would be silly to isolate more players at this present time (unless he did something wrong off field) we don't need anymore dramas and all need to pull in the same direction. I think it's just speculation and enough though PL's not that keen on him, I highly doubt he's been told to train with the youths.

shame, thought he'd be great for us, just not working out though is it? I still say he either needs to be in the team for 10 or more games in a row to really get going, with the managers arm around him, or just don't bother at all?
