'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Light At The End Of The Tunnel For Gary Gardner

Gary Gardner has told avfc.co.uk he can, at last, see the light at the end of the tunnel following his injury set back.

The Villa midfielder says he is 'buzzing` now he is approaching fitness and says the experience of his last similar injury helped him through.

'The knee feels strong - stronger than ever. I feel so confident. Hopefully when I'm fully back at it, I can push on in my career. I am a young lad. I'm getting through it and I know I will be good to go in the future."

Gary Gardner

Last time during recuperation he had an infection in the knee which set him back 3 months, this time he says things have gone better adding "and now I feel brilliant."

Top news. As he says, he is still young (he is 20) (see profile... Click Here ) and who knows, maybe being saved from being thrown in this season might actually be a good thing as he can still have confidence whereas some of our younger players right now look like rabbits in the headlights?!

He also thanks the fans for their support, "fans have brightened everything up too. I have had my low days but the fans have been superb. I can't thank them enough. It's not just Villa fans either. I've had supporters of other clubs asking how it's going and wishing me luck in my recovery. That's an amazing thing. They have been right behind me."

In the full interview, see: avfc.co.uk , he also says a few of the players have been fantastic with him.

Blimey, nice to have some good news for a change isn`t it?!

Good on you Gary lad. Should be ready for the start of next season..... for a promotion push?

Such a shame for the lad, he would have definately got game time this season and our style of play would of suited him? I really hope he lives up to the hype and he gets a bit of luck with the injuries.

If we do go down, Gary and Carruthers (and a few others) will get their chance. It's the only real postive I can think of.
son_of_cher
in no way is that a positive.

We've needed someone behind the strikers and hopefully, when he's fit, he can make that difference because goals do win you the game. Just need the defense sorting out if we stay up and if he does show his potential.

Good news indeed. A genuine talent, such a shame that his career has been hampered by these nasty injuries. They have set him back, but they wont hold him back. Naturally gifted, he has an important role to play in the future of AVFC. Lets just hope that it is the premier league stage on which he is able to perform.
