Positivity About Simon Dawkins

Positivity About Simon Dawkins

Snippet about our new loan signing Simon Dawkins Profile today on US site www.mercurynews.com

They have quotes from the MLS team`s coach on the loss.

Frank Yallop said

'We're not going to panic. It's got to be a real top-notch player.'

Looks like they might find him hard to replace? Their loss our gain?

Apparently Dawkins contract runs out in the summer and The Earthquakes might return then to try to secure his services. Be interesting to see if Villa want to keep him and tie him to a new deal as well. Hope so, because surely that will mean he`s fit in and done us some good?

I upset a few - most unlike me... ahem - calling him a Spurs reject. However, I think we are entitled to be a bit 'up in the air` about this season (and the two that preceded it) and the fact we are in a relegation battle and bringing in such signings (not tested at the top level) is bound to produce a bit of worry and perhaps cutting comments? I make no apologies for feeling let down and worried by this January transfer window! Or as Homer would say, 'I`m sorry, I don`t apologise` ! See: Words Fail Me As We Loan Spurs Reject

Paul Lambert on the player: Dawkins Will Surprise People

Speaking to the Official Site Lambert explained that he believed that Dawkins had the potential to 'surprise a lot of people' during his second half of the season spell with us.

'He's a good player, if you look at his story, it's a great story, going from Spurs to San Jose. For the last couple of years he has been excellent over there and the MLS I think is a very underrated league. He will give us something a bit different. Dawkins will be a surprise to a lot of people, just the way he plays. The lad is on loan and an unknown is sometimes a good thing because a lot of people won't know him.'

Vital Spurs editor oxfordspur said: "I have only seen him play in the flesh as an academy/reserve player and that was some time ago. I have seem him on TV and I also know that Spurs thought/think highly of him and perhaps only a very bad knee injury that could have easily finished his career has held him back from what could otherwise have been a very decent career to this point. he has received great reviews for San Jose, playing mainly from the left side (watch out Gabby) and is known as a creative provider with a great team ethic. I can actually see a pick of N'Zogbia and Dawkins doing very well in supporting Benteke having balance, creativity and penetration."

Dawkins has also spoken: Dawkins - Blessed To Be At Villa

'I think my battle back from injury helps me. I am always thinking in my mind about what I've been through, it was difficult, hard times, but I came through it. Every time I enter the pitch I feel really blessed. Now I'm blessed to be playing at Villa. That battle back enhanced my desire, determination and belief. I think those qualities will stand me in good stead for this battle at Villa.'

Hope so, look forward to seeing him play and improve our struggling team.

will be interesting to see what happens over the next few months. to a degree I believe he is one player that owes Spurs for their loyalty in sticking with him when many others might have dumped him after his injury problems. saying that, for him to want to stay at Spurs, you assume he would want a regular squad place at least and Im not sure that will happen, but... I do wonder if Spurs will look to sign him on a contract and sell him as opposed to losing him for nothing, but that would assume the player was willing to agree to such a deal. Irrespective, of his longer tern future, I wish him well and hope he has a long and successful career, wherever that may be
