Teale Offers Some Defensive Advice

Shaun Teale has said modern day footballs don't seem to want to get their hair dirty, and well, it's about time our defence did!

Speaking to the Birmingham Mail Teale talked about the philosophy our defence had under Big Ron and how it seems to be now:

'At 3-2 up we concede yet another corner and it cost us three points. They don't attack the ball. Look at Fellaini, I think Clark gets bundled over in the melee but Vlaar actually runs under Fellaini. There's no attacking of the ball. Our philosophy when we were defending was 'there's only one ball, lets go and attack it'. You can have 20 players in the box but there's still only one ball. Maybe they don't like getting their hair dirty any more, you don't see old school defending.'

Teale also talks about winning battles, getting so wound up with yourself for losing a battle and making sure it never happens again. He also makes one telling comment which is different in today's game, he talks about growing up and playing with seniors who would tell you exactly what to do and not hold back if you didn't. There's non of that anymore, and he doesn't think the players or manager are being honest enough with themselves in the dressing room when mistakes are happening on the pitch.

How much could we do with somebody like Teale back!
