Farina Responds To Europol Announcement

Farina Responds To Europol Announcement

Well it's unlikely that anybody missed it, the ongoing investigation into match fixing involving 380 games, 1 of which took place in England.

Our own Simone Farina has added his voice calling on players and club officials approached by crime syndicates to co-operate fully and come forward. Our community coach has form here, being internationally recognised for not taking a bribe, but instead reporting it to the authorities when he was asked to help fix an Italian cup game back in November 2011.

'This is not a problem only in Italy or any one particular country, this is an international problem and the scale of it really saddens me. It is vital that there is complete collaboration with FIFA and INTERPOL so that the problem can be tackled properly and we no longer have such scandal in the game. The responsibility lies with the players and officials of football clubs. Match fixing has no place in football. It is a blight on the game and for the future of the game we need to tackle it and overcome it now.'

The worrying thing is investigations only usually brush the surface of things, you've got have some hope that this isn't even wider spread.

This sort of thing always happens when we let Johnny Foreigner play our games.

I'm sure Europol have investigated Dunne at least once in his career with all the own goals he scores!

i think the premier league is relatively safe, players earn millions of pounds a year a few extra grand here and there isnt worth the risk of losing their football careers and possibly going to jail. although players are generally stupid and greedy which put them together is a bad mix. The English game was liverpool v some random team no one has ever heard of where the opposing keeper was told to let in 3 goals

For the team Liverpool played. Eitherway they would of Conceded 3 goals. Very unlikely Liverpool had anything to do with that. As for Villa. Always new them Refs had it in for us ;)

I think when big business/big money gets hold of our game like it has, there is always possibilities of this think going on. Typical win at all costs mentality! Lets hope it is stamped out before it gets too much of a hold.
