'If It's Football, It's Vital'

More On & From Dawkins

Now confirmed by Villa, we have some words from the man and a bit about his history.

Full article Here.

The 25 year old winger apparently suffered a serious knee injury five years ago which almost put an end to his career which goes someway to explaining his lack of Spurs involvement. Apparently his spell at San Jose was during their record breaking campaign where they set records for goals scored and their highest ever point gain.

Sounds a more promising doesn't it, youtubers will be busy I imagine.

'I worked for two years to get over my injury and regain my fitness and now I'm really motivated to make the most of this opportunity at Villa. Tottenham have been great with me and the past two seasons with San Jose have really kick started my career. I never lost my belief and everything I've been through has made me stronger mentally as a player and as a person. I'm really focused on what I need to do for the rest of this season and I'm looking forward to training with my new team mates ahead of a big game against Everton this weekend.'

Another winger in the ranks, we will get a bit more width?

Whats the betting he has a recurrence of an old injury and costs us ala Jenas?
Stourbridge Villan
Got to be a huge improvement on Marc Albrighton. Good Luck to the guy. Looking forward to seeing him in action, and hopefully he can and will bring something to the table.
glensider
Good luck to him. Glad we got our defender :) looks very promising, shame his invisible. I hope Dawkins isn't Nzogs replacement IF we get relegated.
HolteEnd89
Just got sent the name of a player we was looking at, "Noo DeFenda" he was called but the deal never materialised.....UTV.
Aztex1000
Welcome to the Aston villa trust. We never put a good championship player down.
Bikini inspector
Welcome to...........? what's his name again?.... Oh yeah Simon Dawkins.
Pride of Lions
Simon Dawkins? Richard Dawkins has more chance of 'going up' than we have of staying up on the back of this year's circus that is the January transfer window! Strewth!
Rawlie
Young and hungry, eh? I think the owners are confusing an elite football club with the workforce of an Indonesian textile factory!
Rawlie
i think his quotes are good ones and welcome him. lets see what he can do!
leftfoot
I would also like to welcome him, despite what I've said elsewhere, nothing to do with the lad himself, hope he does well for us, my beef is with our clueless owner and board.
Stephen Jay Hawkings
As somebody based in Canada and following MLS, A) MLS is picking up fast, just look at the amount of plays being pulled this window. Norwich, stoke, ourselves. Once you get over that, this guy is dynamite inside 25 yards. If it translates will be up to him I suppose. But good god, the previous thread obviously had no intention of learning anything about the lad before having their say.
TOVilla-Mars
lets give him a chance, we need all the help we can get
tokyovillan
Welcome to the new boys, it's not their fault Randy is an idiot.
AdzVilla11
Welcome Simon, you do look good on youtube, hope you can excel and start to feed our forwards and maybe, score the odd goal yourself. You will certainly allow our defenders to concentrate on doing just that, they need all the help they can get!
Charizma
From what I've read Dawkins sounds like the kind of player I want to see at Villa,I reckon he'd walk over hot coals for a game and if Spurs resigned him he must have something about him but I guarantee he'll get badly injured again. There's just no recovering from those knee injuries.Best of luck to the lad though he's obviously fought tooth and nail to get where he is.
Pking
Good luck and welcome to the villa... You'll find we don't whinge much here and always see the positive side... *cough* :)
maigrait
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwhYFfftJY4&sns=em looks worth a punt to me. If we had spent big in this window and still gone down, where would that have put us? My reckoning is we would be navigating our way down ***** creek without a paddle.
Bristol Villan
All we can do is welcome them to the club, get behind the team and hope they give it their all, they bloody need too!!
calavfc
I'd say PL must have seen him or heard about him in the U21 leagues where they finished top of our league & thought he's worth a go. I think we're doomed but I think PL's done what he could under the circumstances . Can't be a coincidence that we never got anybody in until somebody left
AstonBilla
Bristol Villan there are no paddles Randy sold em along with the f***** boat. Good luck to the lad though sounds determined.
Merlin128777
If he sucks then it sucks for us, if he is awesome then we help develop another Spurs player... bittersweet.
mattyh1986
Not so sure matth1986 - looks like he's out of contract in the summer when he finishes with us...
maigrait
he was always highly thought of at Spurs and has been excellent for San Jose, a club that has strong ties with Spurs. I actually think you are in for a nice surprise, though it will be interesting to see where you play him. He is usually played rom the left, but can play a withdrawn role in support of a striker.
oxfordspur
I am embarrassed to be a Villan that is all!!
CLIVETHEVILLAN
Hope he does as well as the other Spuds reject Kyle Walker.
Oscararc
CLIVETHEVILLAN, second that. Everyone says we're a big club. Championship teams have done better than us this month. Totally baffled and can't believe what is happening. Shocked!!!!!!!
AstonThriller
I remain furious at Lerner and Lambert. If these kids will make a difference, why wait until 31 Jan to buy them? Like waiting for a sale in Poundland. But let's all get off the backs of these two new lads - they probably aren't going to make enough difference to save us, but that isn't their fault. People on here slating them before they kick a ball in claret and blue should be ashamed of themselves.
onlyteaminthemids
onlyteaminthemids we have every right to have a moan. This is our club and we love it. Ashamed???? No chance!!!!!!
AstonThriller
Have a moan at the situation? Damned right - I'm one of the biggest moaners on here. Pick on a couple of kids who have yet to play for us? Inexcusable. If We'd brought in 6-7 players, 5 of them experienced husehold names, these kids could have come in and gradually got into the swing of the Prem. Not their fault we haven't done it properly. Blame lerner/lambo, not Sylla/Dawkins!
onlyteaminthemids
No one is blaming the kids otitm, If you expect fellow Villans to be waving flags and shouting ''hey Dawkins n Sylla are great'' then you need your head looking at mate, this club deserves better and bigger things, its Randy my gripe is with, the bloke is and has been downgrading Villa culling wages and quality for years so like i say signing poor players is not the players fault! I wear my heart on the sleeve and say what i think, sorry if you don't like that, or anybody but tough RANDY OUT!
clivethevillan
onlyteaminthemids: Why wait til the last minute? You ever used ebay? If you put a bid in early you increase the interest, and thus the value, of the product. The longer you leave it the less likely it is you'll get gazumped. Especially with unknowns. I'd be more worried if we'd got them in at the start as it would have meant: a) we paid over the odds or b) there was absolutely no chance of any other bugger being interested. Business basics.
simonbigron
clive - you're being fairly open about lerner out/lambo out and that's great, but some people have immediately had a go at the new players. There's a good chance they're not world beaters, but I don't know enough about either to say that - how many others who are being insulting/disresepectful about them do? I admit, don't follow the french 2nd division or the MLS, so I can't judge - those that do follow closely feel free to speak up. It's this whole thing about slating Villa players I hate, especiallywhen they've not had a chance to prove themselves one way or another. If you think I 'need my head looking at' because I love this club and anyone in claret and blue, you're welcome to your opinion. simonbigron - yes, I understand the ebay/last minute bid thing, but we are shopping at smartprice nowadays, not harrods. If we were buying another DB9, the difference in waiting a month might have been millions. For these two together it was probably only a couple of grand at best. If, by some stretch of the imagination Sylla for example turns out to be just what we need and helps to shut up shot at the back, how valuable would it have been to have him against wba, bradford, millwall, geordies, etc?
onlyteaminthemids
wish him nothing but luck and hope we have a buy clause if he proves good enough.
The Fear
If he can offer us a bit of pace, a bit of width, some creativity, then he might just prove to be exactly what we are crying out for. He'll quite obviously be hungry to make the very best of this tremendous opportunity, and hopefully come the seasons end, our premier league future secure, we are pleading and demanding that Paul Lambert makes the deal permanent.
glensider
Amen to that Glensider!!
onlyteaminthemids
Its nice to see some optimisum, good luck to you all on that, but thats all it is remember optimisum, and im sorry we will soon be loosing and realising we lack the same as we did Tuesday night quality/leadership on the field, thanks to Randy we have basically what we had before the window shut, Sylla and Dawkins are nott he tye of players a club like Villa should be signing unless you have a chairman whi has given up on Villa!
clivethevillan
clive dude, how did i know dude that when you said "that is all" that it wasn't all, dude. i'm showing my lack of OPTIMISM dude.
68 villain
clive - I'm far from optmistic, have given up if I'm honest. Just trying to lay off a bunch of kids who have been thrust into an uncomfortable spotlight. I know they're well paid etc, but I really hope none of them ever read this stuff. Randy and Lambo? Different story altogether.
