Villa Confirm Yacouba Sylla's Signing

Villa have confirmed:

Yacouba Sylla's signing from French club Clermont Foot will be completed this afternoon.

The 22-year-old midfield player has passed a medical and only the formalities remain, with both clubs due to finalise paperwork before Sylla's registration is lodged with the Premier League and the transfer receives international clearance.

See: www.avfc.co.uk

Good luck to him, lets hope he develops into what we need, a top, defensive midfielder.

Can't see this being one to save us in the here and now, but having not seen any French second division games, what do I know?! I'd be more pumped if we'd brought in some experience to save us. Not too late, still eight hours left.

But as said, hope this player can develop and be one for our future.

It begs the question, how the heck do we find these players? Does PL only watch lower league football and thus find time to watch lower league football in France? Very odd!
Villan Of The North
Surprise Surprise, we sign an unknown!! Welcome though, hopefully he can do a job for us, would be the best bit of money we've spent if he could drag us out of this mess.

Must be better than Banann if he's come from any league above U15s.

From the BBC website: "Now, I suspect you Villa fans out there are hoping your soon-to-be new signing Yacouba Sylla is a battle-hardened Patrick Vieria clone ready to add some authority to the their club's midfield, as well as possessing the goal-scoring touch of Frank Lampard and the silky skills of David Silva. Sorry but French football expert Matt Spiro has some bad news: "Yacouba Sylla is an intriguing signing for Aston Villa. He's a big, strong tackler who will certainly add physical presence in the middle of the park, but if Paul Lambert expects him to make an immediate impact in the Premier League he may be disappointed. "He's only 22 and has never before played in the top flight, making 65 appearances for second-division Clermont. Although he played one game for the France Under-21s, Sylla remains relatively unknown this side of the Channel." Not ready to make an immediate impact in the Premier League? Sounds to me like he will fit in nicely with the rest of the Aston Villa squad..." Personally I'll take a physical presence in midfield with open arms, God knows we need one. Bienvenue Sylla.

what's happened to El Ahmadi?
MrZeus
So we have c choice of playing 5'2" Barry Bannan or 6' brick **** house French lad as DM.......tough choice. lol
Villan Of The North
lets hope he can defend at set pieces, if he can't do anything else that is worth having him the team for.

Africa Cup of Nations MrZeus.

We've needed a big unit in midfield for some time now. Good luck to the lad!
nottinghamvillain
oh yeah of course, hope he gets back soon!
MrZeus
Will remind everyone that Bannan probably doesnt consider himself a defensive midfielder dont panic I dont consider him a premiership footballer in any position, same goes for Ireland,Delph,Albrighton,Bennet etc Nzobia wakes up every now and again pity he only does it when it suits him.Dont know anthing about the incomming player so got to give the lad a chance . Mr Zeus with respect sir cannot think why you are concerned about KEA back he has been a dissapointment in my eyes so far.
Merlin128777
ahah just realised the real reason for this signing Nzobia needs a room mate because he cant understand Gabbys french lol
Merlin128777
A kid from the French Second Division? It's asking a lot for him, but we desperately need a bit of muscle in midfield. We just need an attacking midfielder, a defensive king pin and a couple of savvy fullbacks. Shouldn't be a problem. Oh, and we surely don't want Kennwyne Jones...
Mark from Dudley
If he keeps Bannan out of the team then it's money well spent, anyway i've heard his middle name Benteke - he's gonna be awsome !!
Dion's-Dong
Oh sod it. Tonight I am having a curry.

An extremely hearty glensider welcome to the young man. I hope and trust that he'll enjoy a lengthy, happy and successful career here at beautiful Brummagem B6. He is a very lucky lad to be joining AVFC, and I am quite sure that he is well aware of that fact. He will be provided with the opportunity, the stage, and I wish him well as he settles in here, and sets about showing us why he has been selected to represent our great club. Even in such troubled times, there is nothing better than being a Villan. Welcome Aboard Yacouba.
