Villa's Injury News Pre Newcastle Game

Just a few injury news snippets for Villa v Newcastle:

Fabian Delph is a doubt with an ankle knock.

Looks like central defender Nathan Baker will be available after picking up a hamstring injury. I`d expect he`ll start from the bench with Clarke and Vlaar ahead of him.

Lambert told the official site "Hopefully Dunney will train again and Nathan will train this morning.'

Still out with foot injuries are Chris Herd and Marc Albrighton.

Shock recall for Dunne?? If so, would like Clark to play alongside Westwood in the 'holding' midfield role. Might even play him there anyway and partner Vlaar with Baker. Looks like Delph is out. He has to be fair been quite reasonable of late, but in the absence of a signing I think Clark is our best bet in that role for the rest of the season

I agree Clark is better suited in the midfield.

Delph out so it's looking most likely that PL will play Bannan at DM - we might as well give Newcastle the 3 points now.

When herd is fit he should be played as the engine in midfield, until then Clark will have to do with baker in the back four with vlaar. No three at the back please. If dunne is fit I'd play him with vlaar just because it can't be worse than any other defence we've tried this year.

Yep, I'd go with Vlaar and Dunne in CD and Clark DM with Baker on the bench.

Baker Left back. We need to replace Bennett. Baker/Dunne/Vlaar/Lowton Clarke/Westwood N'Zogbia Gabi Wiemann Benteke

Clark has played quite well for Ireland at left full which seems to be one of our really major problem positions. Better than Bennett has been anyway, then there's Enda who seems to be the forgotten man. In fact , I know I havn't exactly been a fan of Bennett's but he "might" be better suited to a midfield role as we probably wont have Delph and he may be able to do the kickem hackem role there and hopefully his mistakes wont be so pronounced in midfield. He does seem to have the ability to cross a decent ball as we found out before they took him off against Bradford . I always worry about Clark in midfield as he has a bad habit of hanging a leg in tackles and its only the grace of Paul that he hasn't been sent off before now.

If Delph is playing then I guess somebody needs to tell the air ambulance they can take the night off.
