'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Lambert On Millwall

Paul Lambert's words of wisdom ahead of our tricky - let's face it, it is - trip to Millwall.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game, Lambert said it was time for us to get back to basics.

Presumably meaning not having a midfielder at leftback and being able to defend corners.

'We have to start earning the right to play. You have to - I don't think we are ever good enough to say we are going to play a certain style of football. We are not good enough to do that yet, you are going to have to earn the right to play against teams and compete against them. If ever there is a time to earn the right, it's just now. There is only one way to do it - you have to fight like hell and win a few games.'

Which we are doing for about 45 minutes every game, or alternatively, until the opposition score and then we fall apart. We have a few days left in the transfer window to get us some experienced seniors who can really help lift the lads on the pitch and get some of that belief back. Because games are following a similar pattern at the moment and something has to change.

Lambert does make one point though, he references how we handled Stoke and talked about how people were talking about us following the Norwich and Liverpool games, and he points out we aren't doing the same things anymore.

Would that be a clue to the players having their self belief ripped from them over the Xmas fixtures, especially as everytime we go behind, we now fold?

You know what would solve that, some quality, experienced players who could lead by example and lift the youngsters. Just a thought.

What with it being the transfer window and all.

probably one of the last places you would want to go in your current position. a team lacking leadership and experience going to The New Den, a place that will be filled to capacity (except the away end) and a highly charged and hostile atmosphere. I really dont fancy you guys for this one. Oh and look out for Adam Smith at RB (assuming he plays) great prospect

Really P***** me off that we a premiership club should be worrying about a trip to Millwall no disrespect to them or their fans intended, If anyone has been watching their current news they will know Millwall have sold their best striker recently and of their other strikers only one is fit and he is just returning from injury. So no excuses Lambert even our current bunch of bottlers should win this.
