Injury Update v Bradford + Match Likely To Be On

Injury update for Villa v Bradford:

www.avfc.co.uk say that Fabian Delph and Shay Given (hamstring problem) are hoping to be fit.

Nathan Baker is a major doubt having hobbled off v WBA.

Andreas Weimann is available after missing WBA because of feeling ill.

And on Richard Dunne who to be honest, I didn`t think we`d see back in a Villa shirt, the Villa boss says:

'He did a bit (of training) yesterday and a bit on Friday. We will see how he comes through this next couple of days. Sometimes you might have to throw him in without any match fitness. He has not played for the best part of a year. When you look at that, it's a hell of a long time out.'

LOL at the thought of playing him straight away, he wasn`t fit or fast when he was fit... if you get my drift. Hey ho, not my job to pick players thank goodness!

I'd save Dunney for Friday night. Gives him a few more days to get up to "speed" as we'll probably be doing more defending on Friday.

Lowton was booked on Saturday. I have a funny feeling that was his fith caution of the season. Would that suspend him for tomorrow?

No problem VotH. After 31 December it all starts again, so a player needs 5 yellows from 1 Jan to end of season to be suspended.

Just gleaned from another website that Dunne has been named in the Irish squad - "Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne has been named in the squad, but a final decision on his inclusion will be made closer to the match as he is yet to play this season because of groin and hip problems". Think I'll be really peeved if he plays for Ireland before Villa, be even more peeved if his recovery from injury is set back.

I hope Guzan plays, whether Given is fit or not. Given hasn't looked all that. Looks like he's playing with lead in his boots, rarely leaves his line for anything.

jbd656, Dunne is only on standby fo the international match. From the FAI website: "Veteran defender Richard Dunne has been placed on the stand-by list for this game. His progress will be monitored over the coming fortnight before a decision will be made on his inclusion in the squad". He will probably play at Millwall, imo, and the way things are we need him back.
