Mixed Emotions For Lambert

Paul Lambert has said we should have been out of sight following our first half display against Albion.

Speaking to the Official Site after we surrendered our lead in the final 10 minutes of the derby game, Lambert explained:

'I thought we were excellent in the first half. We should have been out of sight, it should have been finished. Four up. That would've killed the game. In the second half West Brom came out strongly but you expect that. It was disappointing not to win the game because we should have been finished in the first half, but the game is never over until it's over.'

As for the subs which left quite a few fans baffled going off the comments I've read, Lambert added:

'Charles is a real talents. I would like to see him shoot more because he has the ability. He was excellent. He wasn't injured when I bought him off, he's back from a long lay off so you have to watch him. We have games coming up, we lost Fabian to an injury and Nathan too.'

As of yet there is no more details on the severity of their injuries, but after getting a couple of players back, the last thing we need now is too lose a few more.

Id have preferred Bent on for Bannan - spend £3m on one substitution. Or perhaps a clone of Eric Lihaj. In fact imagine a team of 11 Eric Lihaj (s). We would need extra liability insurance.

First game back for Vlaar and our defence steadied a little. Yes we cracked in the end but that is what will happen if we fail to capitalise when on top. We will improve.

Not happy with the amount of grabbing Clark is starting to do in our box, he is going to cost us 3 points on of these days with them antics. On the other hand Benteke scored a stunning strike, Gabby showed why he needs to be involved more instead of supplying the ball from the wing, N.Zogbia looked a different player, although like Lambert said he needs to shoot more, although I would prefer him to look up and pass the ball rather than run it past the keeper.

Yeah, it was a cracking strike from big Benteke and Gabby took his goal well too. Great to see NZogbia finally show some class in the Villa shirt, hopefully he can find some consistency now as well as Gabby. Not all bad if these boys can start to step up on a regular basis but we still need signings and fast. PLEASE THIS WEEK UTV

Going forward in the first half we were excellent N'Zogbia,Benteke and Gabby caused nothing but trouble and we got 2 great goals. But our defence is nothing short of shocking. Every time we defend a corner your just waiting for the inevitable goal that comes from it. I never ever thought I'd say this but Lambert needs to put Warnock and Hutton back in with Dunne and Vlaar. I'm not a Hutton or Warnock fan but they have the experience to defend set pieces a lot better than the kids in now. Also really think Westwood is going to be a top player for us.

Can't we just fast forward past these dark days of the Randy Lerner era as owner of Villa please, as getting a draw at Baggies is these days an achievement how sad
