Mixed Emotions For Lambert

Paul Lambert has said we should have been out of sight following our first half display against Albion.

Speaking to the Official Site after we surrendered our lead in the final 10 minutes of the derby game, Lambert explained:

'I thought we were excellent in the first half. We should have been out of sight, it should have been finished. Four up. That would've killed the game. In the second half West Brom came out strongly but you expect that. It was disappointing not to win the game because we should have been finished in the first half, but the game is never over until it's over.'

As for the subs which left quite a few fans baffled going off the comments I've read, Lambert added:

'Charles is a real talents. I would like to see him shoot more because he has the ability. He was excellent. He wasn't injured when I bought him off, he's back from a long lay off so you have to watch him. We have games coming up, we lost Fabian to an injury and Nathan too.'

As of yet there is no more details on the severity of their injuries, but after getting a couple of players back, the last thing we need now is too lose a few more.

With you all the way re- Bannan 34% voted for him lol how many have voted so far 10 ? cant believe it.Been a critic of Nzobia for months now but he had his first decent half for us and that made him mom. by miles. Tottally agree heavey d but also agree with 444. Lambert was given 20 mill to replace 8 players who left over the summer but at half the wages so we get lower league youngsters and inexperianced in the Premier league and thats just to make a squad up he probably needed 60 mill to actually sign quality yes I understand all the arguments re- money but lets not burn Lambert at the stake for the mess he is trying to sort out on a shoestring budget. And no I am not excusing him for strange substitutions or chopping and changing constantly he makes mistakes but we have an awfull lot of players who need to pull their weight.

am I imagining it, but Lambert always has mixed emotions after a game

PL has said he has money available, he has also said that he still has funds available from the summer. Teams around us are picking up the quality players WE need at reasonable prices - in fact we are the only team who haven't signed anyone. with 2 half decent CM signed yesterday would have been 3 points in the bag and another 3 points at home to Southampton. we had 9 very winnable points - not just winnable but MUST win - available in Jan, well we have 1 out of 6......Down to PL who is taking us down!

Understand what you're saying heavy d but, could it just be that these overrated players are not as good as they/we think?? MON managed to get a lot out of the likes of Dunne and Warnock but they've been sparcely used by everyone else. Ireland was a 1 season wonder that looked good on Randy's EA Sports football manager and Bent would never get into my team when we've got Benteke, Gabby and Wiemann and I can see entirely why he's on the bench. He gets injured every time we bring him on anyway. Bannan is a Scots thing and it's the only thing that I can properly justify criticizing him over although I reckon that he'll be out the door if PL had better options. It's not like there's a lot of choice at the moment which is down to Randy. PL can't turn water into wine.

I know clive. No-one is asking for £20million, just the 1 or 2 players who would improve the spine of the side. We have all mentioned low priced and gettable options that are available in the market but get told we aren't in for anyone of this calibre. Apparently we can't afford £3-4million fees anymore, and the likes of Reading and QPR and Southampton can beat us in wages??? There are players out there with the required quality and for the right price, but Lambert would prefer to spend the same money on untried lower league players. He doesn't seem able to manage players who have already played top flight football as they may have an opinion, and they may challenge some of his poor tactical decisions. The likes of Stephens at Charlton are NOT the answer but these low quality players are all we are looking at as they will kiss Lamberts behind. I bet Bannan tells Lambert how good a manager he is - it's the only way to explain his continued selection as it sure doesn't have anything to do with his ability. The whole Villa set up is a shambles and no-one will admit they are to blame.

heavy d its not like we fans are asking for Randy to splash silly money, we just want these younger lads to have some leaders added to help them develop ffs, there are free transfers low fee's nowadyas out there for players, but Randy will not let Lambert add due to the wages which he mis managed so we all have to suffer for HIS mistakes!

*wouldn't trust and 34% voting for Bannan? Were those from people voting ironically? If not I didn't realise we had so many Scottish Villa fans. The fact he gave away possession repeatedly, was pushed of the ball and offered no defensive cover what so ever resulting in attack after attack from WBA were obviously not seen as negatives then. And his much mentioned passing ability managed to do what exactly from a Villa attacking perspective???? Nothing.

even at half time I told my dad that we might sneak a draw out of this one if we were lucky. There is no confidence around the club and we NEED strength recruited for the middle of the park. I think it may even be dawning on Lambert, although 6 months later than anyone else with a brain realised, as instead of sitting there looking gormless he has started reacting angrily and kicking bottles etc. When Bannan came on as a sub and was put in a defensive enforcer role I knew what was going to happen - he would be directly responsible for conceding possession over and over again and WBA would ramp up the pressure even further. Pardew is in the papers today demanding to be able to recruit 2-3 players BEFORE their game against us but we will just sit on our hands until then with the same net result - a draw if lucky, but probably a defeat. We can't even win games with a 2 goal start so we certainly wont get anything from games we play badly in (which happens to be most games so far this season). There is a glimmer of hope though - GENTING are not renewing their sponsorship, the 4 year £16million deal that gets thrown at us whenever we say Faulkner is **** at his job - as they don't want to be associated with terrible relegation fodder such as us. Lerner clearly doesn't listen to the fans, media pundits or ex-villa legends but he will crap himself when he stares at the black holes that are appearing in the clubs accounts as the weeks go on. Relegation = -£70million and an un-manageable wage bill, Failure to recruit a good enough standard of player/lack of investment in the team = reluctance of sponsors to associate themselves with the inferior standard of product on the pitch. Lerner wont back the team so it is understandable that fans, and now even sponsors, are reluctant to put their money in as well. The whole relationship is symbiotic - If the chairman looks like he cares and puts money in, the fans will turn up for games and the whole club looks more attractive to sponsors, and even more money flows in to the clubs coffers. Pretty straight forward really. Are you listening now Lerner and Faulkner? A couple of clueless prats I would trust to be banker in a game of monopoly running the club I love. Laugh??? I nearly bought the drinks. UTV
