Warnock Out, Why Not Swap for Riise? Transfer Talk

Warnock Out, Why Not Swap for Riise? Transfer Talk

Feeding off scraps I`m afraid. Even the press seem to have given up on any decent made up links!

The Daily Mail says that Fulham might move for full back Stephen Warnock who has been totally frozen out of the Villa squad despite a dire season and a number of thrashings.

In our transfer thread ( Click Here ) hanboroughvilla says there are rumours ... actually, why should I repeat it, I`ll just cut and paste, save my fingers the work!

Have just seen on BBC site that John Arne Riise has fallen out with Martin Jol at Fulham and may be released. Lots of experience ( age 32), terrific left peg. Back 4 of Lowton,Vlaar,Dunne and Arne-Riise?

So come on Villa, do a swap deal?

The Metro repeat the link to 23-year-old Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko.

His contract runs out in the summer so might be available for a bargain £3m.

Future Villa manager (I hope) Martin Laursen says on ://www.avfc.co.uk/page/Blogs, well first off: "People outside Villa will see me as a former player and nothing more.
But I can assure you, I am a fan of this football club. I spent five of the happiest years of my career in claret and blue and I still live and breathe the club now.

But on transfers... "I read the comments of the manager last week that he wants a strong, physical defender in the transfer window. I agree with him. I think a solid defensive addition could make a massive difference! I know I'll never play again. But when I heard the manager's comments, it really made me want to lace up my boots again. That's for sure. I'd give anything to be out there playing for Villa again and helping them. But I cannot do that. I can think about it. I have drifted back in time before. Unfortunately know it won't happen."

And here endeth today`s tortuous links!

Makes perfect sense to both teams and both players.

Laursen is an absoulute Ledge and probably my favourite ex- Villa player. He, Barry, Milner and Young are sorely missed. If Laursen hadn't have gotten injured the club would probably have reached the Champions League. Wouldn't like to see him as a Villa manager -- yet -- as you don't want too see people you respect get flak. It would be great to see him in some role at the club, though. A real football man.

I hope its true I believe he would add genuine quality... A few articles are mentioning that Houllier looked at signing him a few seasons ago but that could be an after thought from the journo trying to add some credibility...

Riise would do a job next season as well and he seems like a good professional to have plus he has experience of winning things...

Sissoko link sounds promising. Another 'Vieira like' midfielder, apparently. (Are all black French central midfielders compared to Vieira?). Hope it comes to pass if he's in that mould. He looks a lot like the Marlo Stanfield character from The Wire. Hope he's as ruthless on the pitch.

Can only agree VillaWillRiseAgain my favorite Villa player of recent times Milner Young etc included and yes I believe the loss of Laursen did cost us dear. The defence could certainly use a coach of his ability right now.

I hear that Spurs are looking very seriously at Sissoko, especially if Sandro is out for some time. Ideally they were looking to get him on a free in the summer, but that could change if they can do a deal early

If a London club go in for him then that's us out the picture then . For some strange reason people prefer London to Brum
